Comcast TiVo DVR is nothing but trouble. Screen kept going green and had to power down to reset 2 to 3 times a day. Had techs come by and they hooked up with component video because the HDMI hookup was causing the problem. Screen then turned black shortly after they left. Had to power down to reset!
Bought series 3 TiVo and gave Comcast their box back.
The TiVo series 3 is far superior to Comcast TiVo DVR.

I have had two Comcast Tivo boxes for about two months now, one from time to time has a problem syncing with HDMI and has the screen go to green. Most of the time simply, pressing the guide button on the remote and then the exit button gets it to resync. This is on a Sony LCD RPTV. I also have a Samsung LCD FP TV and have never had a sync problem.
After about a month of having the two Comcast/Tivo boxes, I decided to get a TivoHD box, I did this for a few reasons:
* I could transfer the lifetime subscription from an older series 2
* I wanted the option to add more storage
* I wanted to be able to transfer shows (sure I could have continued to do this with my series 2, but now I can transfer hd, which is what I mostly record).
Next week I plan to return one of the Comcast DRV's and get a HD cable box so I still get on-demand.
I will keep my other Comcast Tivo box, which has never missed making a recording. Sure there are some interface bugs, but they don't bother me that much and I'm willing to wait for them to be fixed.

How did you do that? I asked if I could transfer my S1 lifetime over and they said no.

Ironically, using the IGuide software, I always get a green screen when recording Property Ladder. I have to go into the guide and come back out.. Only on this show. And every time..

Tivo had a deal that expired in early February that would allow you to transfer your lifetime subscription to a new TivoHD for a $199 fee. The fee included providing your old Tivo with 12 months of service. If you want to use the old Tivo box after the 12 months you have to pay.
