I started a trek to get my HD Tivo working properly with a cable card and Astound cable. Through my trials and tribulations I happened to have a discussion with the manager of the call center and tech support which is located in Kent Washington.

Basically Saturday Feb 16th they had a meeting to determine whether Astound should use the Tivo Motorolla cable box interface. I told her about this specific forum and she was very excited. The input from you, actual users of the product, will be a big factor in the decision to use it or not. She was very thankful to know about it and said the information would be shared (good or bad).

Background: In my area Astound and Comcast compete with each other to provide cable. Its pretty cool that many residents have a choice between two different cable companies plus fios and satellite!

You mean -- you have competitive cable offerings? That's crazy talk! :)

they are not offered yet. Cox is supposed offer it also, but they need to wait for comcast to pass some many installs before they can offer it.

Yet still means its not a Comcast exclusive item. The forum should be named something to the effect of "HD Motorolla Tivo DVR"

If it were my decision, once another carrier started offering TiVo software on set top box the carrier provides, I would make another section. While many issues may be specific to the TiVo software running on a particular piece of hardware, over time, I'd expect an equal number of items to be carrier specific.

So -- until other carriers start actually testing/shipping an integrated TiVo set top box, I would not expect to see this section renamed, nor another section added. You might note that although Comcast has talked about this offering for years, and showed it at CES in early 2007, the section was only created in November 2007.

I didn't even know Cox was in New England. The article talks about the "Boston area" but I was only able to find Cox in RI.

TiVo president and CEO Tom Rogers, on a conference call Wednesday discussing the company’s quarterly results, said Cox is currently in technical trials and will be launching soon in the region. Cox’s New England division provides service in Rhode Island and parts of Connecticut.
