I'm a big fan of Galleon and have used Moodlogic and other assorted applications over the Tivo years. Does anyone know of a site or thread that has a detailed list of what is available out there for use with your TiVo?

Specifically, I'm looking for software that will help me categorize my music (ala Moodlogic). I guess it doesn't really have to be compatible with TiVo as long as it can easily generate playlists.

Thanks!

FWIW, my wife got very excited when she discovered that she could play her itunes playlists through Tivo.

http://www.moodlogic.net/ now shows:

Effective March 3, 2008, Macrovision announces the end of life (EOL) of the Moodlogic music management and recommendation software. Service will be discontinued due to intensive operational and infrastructure resources are required to sustain the application. Macrovision’s efforts in music recommendation will continue through the AMG Data Services Tapestry business-to-business product.

Interestingly, the page is titled "Cease & Desist notices." Guess I'd better stop using the software.

It still works as-is, but (as I discovered because I added a CD of tunes to it), won't add anything new.

(My opinion only from reading through macrovision.com and allmusic.com's websites)... looks like part of the continuing trend to let businesses rent you the music. It does mention that businesses could build software based on their databases, but sounds more like they're after selling to businesses using the tech. to recommend you new music to buy there, rather than to let you mix your own music.

I had downloaded MusicIP a while back; I didn't like the mixes as well (it's all done mathematically; Moodlogic was done by users profiling the tunes) but it's better than nothing.

I use J River Media Center for music and pictures on my tivo. Infinitely easier and more flexible than the tivo desktop software.

I've been using MusicIP for the past week or so, and although I like the auto playlist/mix feature there are some issues where the playback appears to hang between songs and it has a number of bugs with playlists in general as well. Galleon would suit my needs well enough if all I wanted was "static" music and playlist playback, but I really don't enjoy creating playlists manually since it is so time consuming.

A year or so ago I used some software that allowed me to pick a starting song and ending song and then it generated a playlist that fit between those two endpoints. It could have been an earlier version of MusicIP but I don't see that feature any longer so it could also have been something else.

Ideally if I could find software that automatically generates playlists, even if it didn't specifically work with TiVo, I could create new playlists like I did with Moodlogic after I made major changes to my music library.

Any other thoughts?
