TiVo goes gray when using pyTiVo!

Last night I was successful in getting pyTiVo set up. I have a brand new HD TiVo box. After being excited to see my video folder, I played the transferred video once. When trying to play it a second time, my TV screen went gray! The TiVo categories still showed, but there was no live TV or access to recorded shows. Just gray screen. I got nervous and shut down my PC and rebooted the TiVo box, and it worked OK after doing that. I am afraid to activate the pyTivo now. Have any of you had this happen?

I believe the gray screen you are seeing is just the "default" background from the TiVo. You can actually change that to black somewhere in the TiVo settings. I recently switched to an HD TiVo as well and noticed that I see the gray/black background much more frequently when switching among the screens on the Galleon app I use. It seems that the HD TiVo has significantly more lag then my Series2 box had. I can't speak directly to pyTiVo since I don't use it, however it might just be a compatibility issue with the TiVo HD box and probably not harmful to the box itself.

The main issue I beleive that he was speaking of is that all the tuners stopped showing up and just showed grey.

I too have seen this behavior but only when streaming a bad show to the TiVo. It seems to not handle some video well and will stop working correctly.

In the two times this occured to me I have had to restart my TiVo through the settings menu.

I have not encountered this with standard pyTivo operations but only when I was developing my own plugin for pytivo.
