I had 2 boxes upgraded last Friday (one accidently upgraded by Comcast) and am in dire need of the software update that has been alluded to on this board. My wife has demanded that I return both boxes for the old DVR interface. I think I have convined her to swap one for now and wait out the pending software update in hopes it fixes these items. I realize this is quite new; but it has been in the works for years. Did these issues not come out in the Beta testers? If so, did Comcast/TiVo just refuse to listen to the feedback of the testers? Most of us that have gone ahead with this are tolerant to new technologies and understand there are bound to be issues; but now their advertising for this? Suggestion: Fix these issues before you install any more boxes or you are going to have a lot of angry customers.
My "primary" box is a DCH3416. The green screen has been too much to handle and have abandoned using this box for now. I have been getting it 4-5 times a day (on limited use); each time requring a restart to fix. Details: HDMI to Panasonic 50" Plasma; TiVo set at 1080i fixed.
The "secondary" box is a DCT3416. The only concern with this box right now is the performance of the guide; and clicks in general. No green screens.
Other suggestions for software update:
When changing channels; it'd be nice for the box to know that if I type channel 849; that is what I want. It either sits there for about 4 seconds or I have to push Enter.
Since most people are probably upgrading existing DVRs with recorded content it'd be nice to transfer over the program info for each recording. My recordings came over; but have to play each episode of something to see which one it is.
Previous series recording setuips did not get transferred to Season Passes; we had to set them all up again.
Along the same lines, it'd be nice if the software was intelligent enough to group previous recordings into folders as well. Now I have folders for new recordings; but older ones of the same show are still scattered throughout.
Very inconsisent experience in the Guide. Sometimes it shows a random channel. Also, trying to view the schedule of other channels doesn't always work; sometimes it goes to the More Options of the current selection (I think this is due to delays in IR input..maybe just performance of the guide overall)
The program information screen that shows upon changing channels does not always remember the previous setting.
Not sure if this is TiVo or Motorola; but addressable IR would be nice; in other words I have 2 of these boxes in the same room; I have to cover the IR receiver on the one I am not using to avoid changing the channel on it, etc. For example: a setting for TiVo 1 and TiVo 2.
