My 3-year-old DTV Tivo unit suddenly lost all signal strength yesterday; can still play saved shows and my test worked except for the satellite signal. My 1-year-old DTV DVR works fine, as do all the other signals in my house for other receivers. A message came in from DTV about "security getting you down?", and it had instructions on restarting DVRs. No explanation of what this security thing is or why it should be having this effect, or what units it might affect. I followed the instructions; no change. Called DTV customer services and my call was dropped after several prompts and while getting transferred to a live person. Anyone know what this is about? Thanks.

If you want it fixed.

cost about $100.00, reasonable and quick.
The green thing to do. :D

What have you done to troubleshoot this unit?

Do you have signal on both sat inputs on all transponders?
Try swapping sat inputs and make sure all connections are secure.

I have no idea what that "security" message is.

What specifically does the "security message" say?

Did this "security message" come from your DTivo box, or was it an email that you received as a DirecTV customer?

Might this have been the Now Playing ad from Norton?
