Got my Series 3 back last October and had a few glitches at first but got things straightened out and been working fine ever since.

We'll, just because I had a chance, all the programs I had recorded had been watched and nothing I needed to save I did a "clear and delete everything" and went through guided set up and the whole 9 yards.

Now, I'm getting the network stations in HD like ABC, NBC and CBS on the channels they should be along with some other HD channels however there are some HD channels like ESPN and TBS that are not coming in as they should and I'm getting a black screen with the cablecard number, Host number and Unit address number and to get out of this I have to press clear as indicated on the screen to exit this screen.

I called the cable company and they said everything looked fine from their end and they were able to send a signal to my cablecard so they are sending someone out on Tuesday.

Did my clear and delete everything cause this or is there more then that at work here? We did have some bad storms come though this area middle of last week and these channels could have very well been out and been this way before my clear and delete

You probably need to get your cable company to re-pair the cards. They should be able to do this over the phone. What does the CableCard menu say on the Conditional Access screen under Auth?

I had a similar problem. I ejected both CableCARDs, rebooted, and then inserted the cards one at a time. Verify proper channel operation on card #1 by testing channels before inserting card #2. YMMV

We'll, I'd give this a try except I'm affraid I'll make matters worse and end up with no HD channels till the cable co. gets here tomorrow.

Back to my original question, did my clear and delete everything cause the cable cards to become un-paired?

Yes, and if you remove the cards while the TiVo is on, you can lose the pairing as well.

On the conditional Access screen which is black with a gray border I don't see anything referring to Auth...or authorization

Here's what I do see:

Unit Address: @#$%^&*(
#$%^&*()
State: CA Disabled
ECM PID: #$%^&*(
Component PID's
!@#$%^&*()!@#$%^&*
!@#$%^&*(@#$%^&*
Host Validation: Unknown 03
Copy Protection Key: Disabled
CCI: 0x02

Does this help?
