I just switched to Uverse and had one tivo that was stand alone. I have configured it to work with uverse and all seems fine. I still have the direct tivo sd that does 40hrs. The little lady really wants to put it in the bedroom if we can get it to work.
Is there any way to covert or hack this box to make it into a standard tivo device or should I just sell it and buy a standalone?
Thanks for your help!

No. It will only work for playing existing recordings. Sell it and buy a standalone.

If you do get a SA, get the S2 whereas the S3 won't work with HD. You got to remember that IPTV does not support any TiVo's since IPTV uses no tuners and TiVo does. There is no HDMI inputs on the S3's.

Thanks for your help!It doesn't have signal converters to convert the analog cable output to digital, record it, and then convert it back.
It only records the Directv bitstream.
Sorry.
