Just wondering how everyone like their TivoHD for OTA recording? I currently have two subbed, zippered DirecTivo's and thinking about dropping DirecTV. I get all the major networks in HD OTA and most of what my Season Passes are on these channels. For you current/former Zipper users - anything you miss on the unhacked TivoHD?

With my zippered DirecTivo's, I can watch all my Tivo shows on any of my computers (Tivotool), iPod, Palm and Nokia Internet tablet, transfer shows between my DirecTivo's, burn DVD's of any show, stream video from my computer to my DirecTivo's, listen to my iTunes library and view my iPhoto library thru my DirecTivo's - and none of this cost a penny beyond my regular DirecTV subscription.

Lastly, can I watch TivoHD shows on a Mac?

Hey ForrestB! I dropped my directivo in december and couldn't be happier! I did the analysis and found over 90% of what we season pass'd was available OTA and picked up the TiVOHD. The picture quality is amazing, and the interface is the same as we're used to with a directivo. We hooked up a 500gb esata drive and had it full of FREE programming in no time! Good Luck!

Best move I've made in a long time. You might be surprised, several shows are also available via amazon unbox. Sound and video quality is better the DTV.

I had the OTA hooked up for a few days while I was waiting for the cable to get hooked up and was VERY impressed with the quality of the signal. I don't have it connected now to avoid the wife getting frustrated with Channel 2 cable, 2 Ant, 2.1, 2.2... I think I counted something like 50 channels I can receive.

Tivo HD and OTA is awesome. The unhacked Tivo HD does everything that a zippered Tivo can do and more.

I use a S2 Tivo and Dish prepaid (only when something good is on).... then I can move the shows to the Tivo HD if I want. Or you could just use Amazon Unbox (or iTunes) for the shows that are not on the local stations.

Yes, you can watch shows on the Mac... I use Roxio Toast (Tivo Transfer). I think you can also use Tivo To Come Back (TTCB... bring video from the Mac/PC back to the Tivo) but I've never tried it.

I've been very happy with TiVo OTA. Only issues have been adjusting he antenna to pull in various TV stations. My S3 TiVo has worked great.

I have been OTA only on a S3 for almost one year now and the only complaint I have is the writer's strike.

In a weird way, I think I appreciate TV more now that I use OTA only on my S3. Since I'm not paying $70+/month to DirecTV I don't feel obligated to watch TV. When I have time, I check what Tivo has found for me, there's still a ton of great shows OTA. If I want to check the weather, I have two digital sub-channels with radar. Still lots of HD sports on OTA, great old movies on PBS. I frankly can't believe I didn't do this sooner...

I am thrilled with OTA and my S3! In fact, my TV watching habits have increased since I found shows I never watched with my S2.

I am so amazed at the quality of the picture especially on vibrant crime drama shows like the CSIs. This excellent quality television that I receive off of the air is FREE. Every Philly station is a lock at over 90% with the antenna in my window facing away from the towers. Plus, I do not have to deal with Comcast and their annoying service problems in particular with the cable cards.

We used to have a standard definition directivo, but had i the service shut off this passed november. We purchased an HD TV last january and I was unwilling to shell out $300 for and HD-DVR lease upgrade fee in addition to the HD service fee and the monthly lease fee on the DVR box.

We bought our TivoHD in October, hooked up an OTA antenna and we haven't looked back since. We get most of the stuff we watched before in better quality. There are a few things we miss (ESPN, FOOD network), but not enough to go back to spending $70 a month for standard definition programming. Plus, I actually have a chance now to watch all the shows I record. When I was using directv I used to record a whole bunch of stuff I never watched simply because there wasn't enough time in the day.
