Do you have Desktop Plus. If not, you will need the upgrade in order to transcode those files

I've been using pyTivo (http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?t=328459) to do it.
Works like a champ. I don't even have tivo desktop loaded!

Use this one:

It's pretty much a "no-brainer"... :up:

i apologize for my ignorance,but i've got python running, and i started pytivo, i'm just not sure what to do next. i've pointed the pytivo gui to my video folders. what do i do next? i am seeing one folder from my pc, but there are no videos in it right now. i have 2 other folders in pytivo, but they're not showing up. is pytivo only able to show one folder at a time? i've restarted pytivo after adding the other video folders, but with no luck.

Are you looking on your Tivo for the videos. Run pyTivo on your PC, it will open a CMD window. Then, on your Tivo, at the bottom of your Now Playing List should be a Computer icon with the name of your pyTivo share; probably "My Videos".

yes, i see the 'my videos' icon on the NPL, but there's no video's in the folder. plus, i've got 3 folders in pytivo, so shouldn't they also show up on the npl?

What do you mean by "i've got 3 folder in pytivo"? What folder did you designate on your PC as your pyTivo "My Videos" share? Are your subfolders under that folder?
Look in your pyTivo.conf file to see what path have configured. That is where you need to put your videos.
[My Videos]
type=video
path=C:\Users\Greg\Videos

can you designate more than one folder? it seems you should, as it allows more than one share in the pytivo gui. btw, does tivo desktop have to be running when pytivo is running?

Yes you can have more than one share. What pyTivo GUI do you mean? There is no GUI. ;)
But, yeah, if you have more than one share, you will see multiple computer icons on your Tivo.
No, you do not even have to have TivoDesktop installed.

greg, thanx for your help. gui (graphic user interface)is the window that pytivo opens, and you can work with the folders instead of editing the conf file. i am going to try it w/o tivo desktop running, even though i doubt that's it. i'll repost how it goes.

Shows you how much I know about pyTivo. Didn't even know there was a way to do that. :)

This one adds a pyTivo - Configurator to start menu

Hi all :)
I don't have pyTivo, but I did upgrade to Tivo Desktop Plus. Does anyone have tips on how to transfer streaming video?
Thanks for any help :)
