I posted this in the Help forum but got no bites - so I thought I'd post over here...
I'm wondering if others think ABC's HD looks very jerky? Could it be because they use 720p versus other networks using 1080i? Or is this a bitrate issue? Is there any way to tell what the bitrate is? Fox looks great and it's 720p... My TV supports 720p, 1080i and 1080p and I've tried various S3 output modes and they don't seem to change the "jerkiness" of ABC. Could this be a cable provider issue? Or a TiVo issue?
My other complaint is with NBC HD - the audio is not in synch. If I go to NBC's SD - the audio is fine. Is this a cable provider issue? Other HD channels seem to be fine.
Should I call my provider (Comcast) and complain?
I'm in the Denver area...

I saw the same thing last night on Lost. I use OTA for ABCHD because TWC doesn't have an agreement with ABC here in Corpus Christi. But my show last night did the same thing. It reminds me of a bitrate issue, maybe even a refresh rate issue? Audio always in sync, but somethings wrong for sure as it doesn't happen all the time.
I really think everyone is trying to figure out how to do HD effectively. Just this morning I had issues with our local ABC affiliate (WCVB). On the network content there was horrendous audio/video sync issues, but on the local content it was fine. On the SD version it was fine. All other HD channels I checked were fine.
I emailed the station and they were aware of the problem with some equipment. Heh, now I have a station engineer's email address.
WCVB, broadcasts in 1080i even though ABC is 720p. They re-encode all network content from 720p to 1080i. Ugh. Then again, they are the only local network affiliate that has local HD content (e.g., newscasts).
It just seems the entire industry is going through growing pains in the jump to HD.

I have also noticed jerky ABC video. It has been happening for several weeks. I using an S3, OTA, Chicago area. Specifically, it jerks a bit during some scene cuts. Right when it cuts to a new camera angle there is a skip or stutter. I have replayed it and when it does happen, it happens again on upon replay. I have been meaning to post about it. For those having the issue. where are you, and what source (OTA, CC) are you using? Are you seeing it after a scene cut?

It just seems the entire industry is going through growing pains in the jump to HD.Hmmm, they've had a few years already to get it right--they shouldn't be going thru "growing pains"! In Texas the Belo ABC affiliates convert their 720p network feed to 1080i. I have no idea why they do that but it certainly can make for headaches if you try to convert-back to a progressive format after recording.
My affiliate in Austin does this but honestly I've never noticed any problems in the original broadcasts, other than that they often are "asleep at the wheel" and will sometimes broadcast in SD for many minutes into the show!!!?!!??
