Is it possible to use my Series 2 Tivo with HD service? In other words, can I use TiVo for just the SD channels and something else for HD channels? I'm just not sure how this would work, or if its possible to do it elegantly.
Thanks,
Kyle

Sorry if I'm not understanding your question correctly, but on two of my TVs, I have both a Series 2 TiVO (which I use for only channels 1-99) and an HD cable box. Each is set to use a different input on the TV.

I had HD channels recording onto my S1 in reduced resolution. They looked pretty damn good I might add. The trick is that you HD receiver must downconvert the signal to something the Tivo will take.

You can split the line--one going to the Tivo and one to the cable box. This way you can record 1-99 and still watch the HD channels. You could also just hook the Tivo up to the cable box like you normally would and be able to record all channels. The only thing is that the recordings will not be in HD.
If you want to be able to record all channels and still watch HD channels, you could have one output from the cable box go to the Tivo then to one input on the TV and have another output from the cable box go directly to the TV. You can use input 1 to watch the Tivo and input 2 to watch live HD. This is the setup I use.

The S2 will *ONLY* record in analog - you won't even be able to record the cable company SD digital signals on it.
There are several options available. The simplest is to just put a splitter in front of your TV - one input goes to the TiVo and one input goes directly to the TV. When you switch between one and the other, you simply switch inputs on the TV. I assume that your TV has multiple inputs - I don't know of any HD sets that have only 1 input.
My recommendation, however, would be to purchase an HD TiVo - you'll find everything much simpler to use, you'll have dual tuners, and you'll probably have a much better quality of picture on the SD stations as well (assuming that your cable company simulcasts the digital and analog channels).

I've been recording HD/digital channels on my S1 Tivo for quite a long time.

As did I on my S2 when I had it set up that way.
