This week I got a new Tivo HD, and a Series 3. I currently already own a series 3, and two HR10250's

The new Series 3 is connected to cable only, and the Tivo HD is connected to antenna only.

Now, the bizzare behavior turning up on both units. The shows, I have set to record, are showing up in the Now Playing list, fractionated. Some are broken into two partial recordings, some up to four partial recordings. All recordings show the same channel and start time, but are fractionated. So, for example, I have them set to record American Idol on Fox at 7pm. I get two AI 7pm recordings in the Now Playing list, one is 18 minutes, and another is 41 minutes. Csi Miami is broken into 4 pieces with partials ranging from 8 minutes to 18 minutes.

What is even more bizzare is that this is happening on two totally unrelated Tivo's, different models, with two totally different feeds (antenna vs cable). Further, my old Series 3 is not doing this, and my two HR10250's are not doing this either.

Is it possible that I randomly got two bad units with two bad hard drives?

Could it be that you have bad power on the circuit that the new THD and S3 are on, and that they are frequently rebooting?

They are both on separate circuits, with separate UPS backup units, so no power outages. Plus, my two S3's are on the same UPS and circuit, and only the new unit is fractionating recordings.

Are the recordings broken at the same spots on both units? That would pretty much rule out the hard drives and point back to power/signal issues.

Have you checked the signal strength? It could be marginal. Try this:

Take all but one TiVo off the cable, and remove all splitters. Use MRV (is that what they call it) to move shows to other tiVos if you want. If having just one TiVo on Cable and no splitters clears the issue, then it is a signal issue.

I recorded a bunch more on the S3, which was just hooked up today (the HD Tivo has been doing it for a few days) and it is not doing it anymore, so I am thinking it may be a bad backups on the HDTivo, so I am pursuing that possibility. If it is not that, I will follow the signal strength route. Thanks for the suggestions.
