I have Verizon FIOS using the Actiontec router. I have a new HD Tivo series 3 and a series 2 Tivo. Both are wired to the router using ethernet cables, the series 2 has a Linksys USB/ethernet converter. Both Tivos are able to use the network router to contact the Tivo server to download programming.
However, the two Tivos cannot see each other for multi-room viewing. I have also loaded Tivo desktop onto my computer. I can see the HD series 3 with no problem and can download the programs onto my computer. The series 2 appears in the list of Tivos on the network on Tivo desktop, but is not communicating with Tivo desktop. Also on the series 2, I cannot see the Tivo desktop option.
I have spent several hours on the phone with Tivo, restarted each DVR and the router several times, checked software on each machine to make sure they are compatible.
My most recent conversation with Tivo support ended with their suggestion to open several TCP ports on my router. I'm not sure how to do this on the Actiontec router and I'm not sure this will resolve the issue.
How is it that the series 2 can use the router to access the Tivo server and download program information, but not be able to communicate with the series 3 or the computer on the same router?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
