My TIVO HD keeps changing its video resolution.
No matter what I set it at, it keeps changing to 720 Fixed. Sometimes after a few hours and sometimes overnight. No logic seem to apply.
I have it connected via HDMI to my Samsung 4665
What would cause the resolution to keep changing?
Could it be the cable card?

It appears to be an issue with the handshake on the HDMI when the amp turns on and off.
Has anyone else seen a problem with HDMI handshakes and changes to resolution?
On the phone with TIVO for 45 minutes and they are stumped.

Are you connected to a receiver (you mentioned an amp) via HDMI or directly to your TV?

Tivo to Yamaha RX-V661 Receiver via HDMI. Yamaha to TV Samsung 4665F via HDMI.

I'm starting to find it funny that all problems are suspected to be caused by cable cards.
"Last weekend I set up a TiVo with a M-card from Comcast. This morning my car wouldn't start. Could it be the cable card?"

Seems to be the guiding principle my cableco goes by; anytime I have an issue, they're the immediate scapegoat (which is particularly funny since it's never been them)...

Well this weekend I am going to rip everything apart, go HDMI direct to the TV and use audio cables for sound
If that works, I will pick up some digital cables

definitely sounds like a handshake issue. I would run optical from the Tivo into the receiver and HDMI into the TV directly. Works great for me.

Are these the correct optical cables to use?

That would work fine, yes.

- my resolution keeps changing to 480 fixed. I have a THD (w/ a Comcast m-card) that connects directly to the TV via HDMI. No other devices. It may not be a huge issue, but it is certainly annoying. I'd love to find a resolution.

Since no other equipment, try a new cable

Well it definitely a handshake HDMI issue. Every time my TV and AMP power cycle, the resolution changes.
I have an open ticket with Tivo as Yamaha claims they send no signal back.
Tivo offered me a glow remote for my troubles :)

I switched to Component+Optical audio so the video wouldn't keep resetting.
Same video and audio quality, just more cables. No big whoop.

My S3 does that, it keeps setting itself to 720p fixed, I keep setting it back to hybrid. Its connected via HDMI to an Yamaha receiver and then to a Panasonic Plasma.
I'm really hoping this is fixed in the next system update

I noticed my HD did that when connected via HDMI with my Samsung LCD TV. It gets set to 720p fixed.

My thd was resetting the resolution to 480 fixed almost everynight. Seems I would wake up each morning and find it had changed sometime during the night. However, it has now been 8 days since it last changed itself... I haven't changed a single thing (to lazy to mess with it).
I'm wondering if others who were having the same problem are still noticing it?

I have a Tivo HD and Yamaha RX-V663 and it does the 720p fixed thing. I have it setup as recommended right now but it's annoying that it does not work right. My PS3 works fine through the receiver.
