I have a Series 2 about 1 year old. It freezes randomly when not in use. Whatever channel the DirectTV happened to be on, it will freeze that picture of live tv and lock out any commands. It will not record scheduled programs, play back recorded or show live tv. I have to unplug and let it reboot. It had done this a couple of times over the past year but now it is happening every 3-4 days.
Other odd thing it does... at the end of recording a program, it will switch channels to the channel it was recording and switch to that channel again approximately 3 hours later. Heck of a ghost in this machine. I don't think it's harddrive as the programs it does record are fine and I have been able to transfer them via wireless network to my computer. More like a software problem that runs the box.
Would Kickstart be a safe thing to try?
