...they pull me back in! :)

I made the move to an HD HTPC and have resigned myself to move away from TiVO altogether. I've been a TiVo subscriber since 2003, so this was no snap decision. Anyway...

I figured I'd cancel my $6.99/mo. MSD account since I no longer use the box. The CSR told me that plan is no longer offered and if I choose to remain a loyal customer, I can keep the low monthly rate, and they will sell me a new TiVoHD for $199.00.

Now I'm not sure what I want. I've heard all the cablecard horror stories, and I got really bitter with the performance of the media options (it seemed to get worse with every service update), and it's only a matter of time before TiVo rolls onto my Comcast HD box.

I'm thinking I'm still better set without it -- although this board is obviously biased ;), what do you think?

Not sure how the Comcastivo will be. It has to be better than the POS GUI they have, but it's still on a moto box. $6.99/mo. is a sweet deal...think I'd keep it...but I am biased. ;)

I think this board is biased ;)

But I have a TiVo HD that I have analog cable and an OTA antenna on. Works perfectly and I have not experienced the slowdown in features on any of my TiVo DVRs. so I obviously would saystick with TiVo.

Does your analog cable provide any audio beyond stereo? Any surround sound?

Just curious, as I understand the capability of your Tivo to deliver that audio is one of its features.

I am a big fan of equity - get the new TivoHD, and put LIFETIME on it (as an existing subscriber, this offer is available to you).

Cheers!

Do not think so. I am just using the speakers on my Samsung LCD TV so not really looking for 5.1 and all that. My next step is cable cards and a larger TV downstairs.

But yes the TiVo HD can deliver digital sound.
