I can force my receiver to reboot to within about 30 seconds when first turned on following putting on Standby the previous day. After this "forced" reboot I can turn it off for several hours and back on for several hours without a reboot. It has been on from 1 PM to 9 PM with only the "programmed" reboot. It has never rebooted more than once a day except as noted below.
The time-to-reboot from first-on each day is 30 minutes plus the continuous-time-on-channel on the channel you are not watching, when the receiver is put on Standby the night before.
Before putting receiver on Standby for the night; change the channel you are watching. This makes the time-on-channel zero. Hit Live TV to go to the other tuner. Which should be a different channel. Put unit on Standby.
Should reboot about 31 minutes after you turn the receiver on. Mine always takes 5 minutes plus or minus 30 seconds to reboot.
Recording a 30 minute show didn't stop the reboot.
Pulling the power plug overnight caused a continuous double reboot on power applied and no subsequent reboot where the programmed reboot was 1 hour.
When first turning on, changing the channel on the channel not being viewed, (otherwise known as the tuner with the flakey live buffer) stops the receiver from rebooting. And, of course, "fixes" the flakey live buffer. :)
