I have an old Philips DSR6000 in my closet. I haven't used it now in a couple of years. Ever since the R10 came out, I made that my primary receiver, and bumped the HDVR2 to being secondary, my original DirecTiVo (the DSR6k) has been sitting in the closet collecting dust.
Is there any point in keeping this NOW? With HD around the corner, I can't see a need to hang onto this, and was thinking of selling it, but I don't know what a fair price is for it now in Feb 2008.
I should point out that my household is still SD only - no HD yet; can't afford it. Modifying or hacking my units is not an option for me, so there's no need to keep it for anything like that.
Thanks.

The DSR6000 is a perfectly good unit, if you have a TV that can use it. If you don't, then sell it. Fair value depends on the condition of the unit, the size of the drive, etc.

Well, I do have a TV that can use it, but I don't need it, as I have two other SD models. It was a 35 hr unit, unmodified. Worked perfectly when I disconnected it, there were no problems.
Now I haven't fired it up in over a year, so I have no clue what's on it now, but it did have it's PVR service cut off, and it worked fine otherwise.

Before you sell it, you may want to check what's on it. :D

Do a Clear and Delete Everything before selling it.

I don't think I can do that with inactive DVR service, can I?

After it has finished downloading the satellite info press the Directv button on remote or on the DVR. You will then be able to view previously recorded shows.:)

Do I have to hook it back up to the dish? That'd be a major pain, as my existing systems are set up so that pulling the cables out is something I'd rather avoid if I can.

And no, you don't have to connect it to the dish in order to view already-recorded shows.
