View Full Version : Hughes DVR40 replaced HD, can't detect 72.5
My father has a Hughes SD-DVR40 and just got a new 160GB hard drive to replace the 40GB that failed.
He got everything installed OK but can't get his local channels on the 72.5 satellite.
He has 2 round dishes - one for 101 and one for 72.5. He went through the guided setup OK (and chose round dish) but when it came time to go back and run the "Auto-detect" to find 72.5, he found that there was no "Auto-Detect" option in the setup menus.
Right now, his software version is at 3.1...... Does he need to wait for a software upgrade to get pushed to his TiVo before this "Auto-detect" will be available again?
Is there any way to force the software upgrade to happen quicker ? He forced a daily call but nothing has changed.

The 72.5 SAT did not exist when the SD-DVR40 came out and is not one of the three SAT's it sees 101,110,119 only.:(

Didn't the OP's father get the locals with the DVR40 before the hard drive was replaced?
The unit just may need to download later software.

Yes, then it should appear on his menus
Yes, this SD-DVR40 DID receive the 72.5 locals prior to upgrading the hard drive. So hopefully the software update will bring the auto-detect back.
Thanks for the responses.

Didn't 6.x add the support to "see" the 72.5 sat? 3.x did not. Once it downloads the new software it will be able to see it again.

If it was that easy, I would. But my father is in PA and I'm in VA. So, downloading an update and then connecting the TiVo hard drive to his computer reallly isn't an option.
It looks like his DVR40 has attempted to download the software twice now but both phone call attemps failed. I wonder how long the phone call is to get the latest software update ?

Thanks. He doesn't have call waiting (I OFTEN get busy signals when I call them) but I wonder if another call trying to come in still somehow injects noise into the current call?
