The only workaround I can find for my tuner 2 pixelation problem is to unplug my DVD recorder from the RCA video port. It seems as if my Samsung receiver will only work if only one output device (TV, DVD recorder, VHS) is plugged in. It doesn't matter which RCA port I use for my TV, as soon as I plug the DVD recorder to the unused RCA port, the picture on tuner 2 begins to pixelate.

This only applies to the video (yellow) RCA port. I left the left/right audio plugged in with no ill effects. I agree that it's useless to have just the secondary audio jacks plugged in, I wanted to point out that the issue is only when the additional video RCA port is plugged in.

Do me a favor?

Plug the second video cable in to the Samsung receiver but just leave the other end not plugged into anything. Check for pixelation.
Then plug it into the DVD. Both DVD power on and power off. Check pix.
Finally leaving the video cable connected to the DVD player disconnect all other cables including the power cable. Check pix.

Thanks. :)

Anytime there is a connection between the yellow RCA port of the the Samsung receiver and the DVD recorder whether the power is on or off, the picture begins to pixelate. I left the cable in the second RCA jack of the Samsung receiver and as soon as I touched the video jack of the DVD recorder the picture begins to pixelate.

What make and model is the DVD recorder?

Power off is not the same thing as unplugged from AC power.

The DVD recorder power was off and the picture still pixelated when the connection was made. It is a Sony DVP-NS715P. I am not able to put a meter or scope on the video jack as I am just a FHO.

FHO=*%&$ing home owner.

Sounds like you are getting some kind of feedback from the Sony to the Directv Tivo. I have three RCA TiVos connected to DVR's and no pixelating. I think the problem may be with your Sony and not with the TiVo. My best guess.
