"No cast members or producers have yet to be announced for the "Buffy" event." Yeah. Ok, then. You announce a reunion - then don't say who all is coming? Lame. Somehow, I see this all going sideways and only like 1 or 2 people (if that) able to come.
I can see like Marti Noxon, Adam Lenk and Armin Shimmerman showing up, and that's it. As cool as those would be, it ain't a Buffy reunion.

That link didn't go to a story about a reunion so that's where I come from when I ask this question. What would be the point? The Buffy story, as much as I wish it wasn't, is over.

I hope they do get them all together, but as jones07 said "$$$$$$ needs to change hands."

... and SMG as well. She wouldn't even allow herself to be shown on DVD extras like the cast party for the series finale, etc.

I have a feeling most of the big names in the cast will end up being there. The festival that this reunion thing is part of is a big thing. this is the 25th year they have had this festival and they always get big stars to show up. I don't think they would be having a buffy event at this if they weren't sure they could get most if not all the big names. There are so many other shows they can get the casts to show up that there would be no need to have it for a show that the cast doesn't want to be involved.
In 1998 they had a Buffy event at this festival and the entire cast was there for that.

From TVGUIDE.COM SMG is now onboard for reunion
Linky- but pretty much post below is everything http://community.tvguide.com/blog-entry/TVGuide-News-Blog/Todays-News/Sarah-Michelle-Gellar/800032491
A lot can change in two hours! Although the initial lineup for the 25th anniversary PaleyFest listed Sarah Michelle Gellar as yet to RSVP for the Buffy the Vampire Slayer reunion, Sunnydale's savior is now on board for the confab.
Other cast members repping the cult hit at the March 20 panel discussion include Amber Benson, Nicholas Brendon, Emma Caulfield, Eliza Dushku, Seth Green, James Marsters and Michelle Trachtenberg, as well as series creator Joss Whedon.

Oh man, wish I was closer. Wonder if I could suggest interest by SMG stripping? I actually read she wants to, of course some of those tabloids may have some distortions I hear. Can someone set up a webcam for this, even if it was shown after the event? Or DVD it!

They did better than I thought they'd do, especially getting SMG to make an appearance. However - no Tony Head, no Alyson Hannigan, both of which are fairly integral to a "reunion." Hopefully they'll be able to add them on as time goes along.
I wouldn't be surprised at all if Tony doesn't show, since he'd have to make the trip over from the UK. Alyson might be busy with HIMYM, if production restarts by that point... but I'd think she'd be able to make the time to make an appearance.

Good for her.
I can understand her wanting to distance herself from the role right after the series ended - after all, at that point in her acting career she was only known for 2 roles despite having been in the biz most of her life. The worst fear of any actor/actress is to get typecast and never get to play different types of roles. But enough time has passed where she should have some perspective now. She played one of the landmark television characters, and it would be nice to a) hear her reflection on that, and b) let the fans show/tell her how that character meant to them.
I'm sure that the fact that her post-Buffy career hasn't panned out like she had hoped (at least thus far) has contributed to her willingness to appear at the reunion - maybe she hopes that doing so will give her some additional exposure. Whatever the case, I'm glad that she is going.

I suspect that if Aly is available at all, she'll show up. I would imagine the reason that she hasn't thus far is because of the uncertainty over when/if production will restart. AFAIK, she and Joss are still close, so I imagine that she would do anything in her power to be there.
Agreed that it wouldn't be the same without Willow and Giles.

It would be very cool to be there.
I am also hoping that Anthony Head and Alyson Hannigan show up, but even if they don't, it's still a pretty nice lineup.
I think Ripper was supposed to start production soon too so I wonder if that is affecting things with Anthony Head? Who knows, with the strike and all.

Would the strike affect Ripper, if it was produced in the UK?
(I know nothing about it, so just asking).

02-05-2008, 02:34 PM
Huh, didn't think about that. I just assumed it was associated with Joss and therefore would be in the US. I would guess if it is being done in the UK then the strike probably wouldn't affect it, but I really don't know.

SMG "won an Emmy award for her performance as Kendall Hart in "All my Children"." (from the imdb).
I think an emmy winning role on a soap would count for 2.

(I know nothing about it, so just asking).
It depends on whether or not the writers are US based (which I'm guessing they would be if Joss gets some of the old Mutant Enemy folk together) and members of the WGA.
Or is it possible that since the BBC is not a member of the AMPTP (I assume), American writers would be able to write for them since they are not part of the entity that they are on strike against?

Bummer. I was going to buy tickerts to this tomorrow morning (when it went on sale to the public), only to learn that they sold out Thursday (when the members only ticket sale started) within minutes. Just for kicks, I checked ebay, and 3 sets were already up, with the *cheapest* bids being at $400 for a pair of $35 tix. Yikes. Oh well. Maybe I'll go to the FNL one instead.

She won before Susan Lucci who played her mother on the show. I think that Emmy was quite an accomplishment.

OK, but no pictures of the event??? People go to someplace with Buffy and take no pictures? What kind of crazy people are attending this thing, no one has heard cameras fit in pockets now? California people ARE indeed crazy.
It may be, if they are planning to release a video of the event, that no pictures are allowed.
Oh, and keep me updated if a video is released!

Thanks c3po, I see pictures too of that Elvis comeback. I take it that was a disappointment, I just knew he would not come back. Any word on why Faith and Willow were absent? Send em to my place as punishment.
As for getting pictures, do it, just wait till near the end and snap away, or if all rise to applaud or something. I will be happy to buy the DVD but will it see same stuff I did from my seat? Probably not. With today's small cameras, no excuse not to get pictures. This is not the CIA, you can bring a camera in a pocket.
