I called TIVO today to activate another Tivo HD. I was surprised because I did not know that it would be $9.95/mo for this unit. I have a Lifetime S2, and a 6.95 S2 and a 6.95 Tivo HD. I asked them how well MRV works with TIVO HD, and they didnt really know since they were in sales. Gave me a Supervisor, he said $9.95, so I said goodbye.
I like the TIVO HD. And I just cancelled a Replaytv I was paying $6.95/mo. ANd was told I could pay $6.95 on another TIVO HD, but I guess that was before the price increase around Christmas time.
Pd 249 for this unit from Costco, can easily return it.
Maybe I should go for a lifetime payment to keep it going, but still not sure if that is available, or if MRV is in realtime.

You do realize that you started a thread that is about saving $36 a year, right?
Give me a break.
I dont understand. If you already have 2 S2 and 1 HD, don't you already know how the MRV works?
I believe the lifetime on the HD is still available for current TiVo customers. But IIRC it ends around February 2nd or so. Unless it's been extended or something.

You do realize, you just responded to a thread, and amororized his cost per year just to be a troll?

All you do is login to Tivo.com and do "Change service number". It takes about 2 minutes and you are done. There is no fee for transferring service numbers to new boxes and it will not affect your payment plan. It will activate your new box under your current account and disable your old box who's TSN you are replacing.

My feeling exactly. Saving less than 10 cents a day is not really a topic, its it? Now if we were talking about how to save 11 cents per day I might partake. Just kidding.
I will possibly be in a similar situation that has me wondering. Hopefully someone here has encountered the same(to be described) and knows the answer. Maybe one of the Tivo reps can chime in. For those who will post "call Tivo and ask", don't bother. I know I can do that and eventually, I will. Thanks in advance to anyone who knows.
I have a 540040 with lfetime activated March 2006.
I have a Toshiba Sd-H400 activated Aug 2006 with MSD $6.95/month.
In Dec 2007, I activated my Tivo HD with lifetime.
If I sell the 540040 and it is removed from my account, will the MSD at $6.95 go away and become $9.95 since now the qualifying unit was activated after the rate increase?
I too don't want to pay $9.95 when I have been paying 6.95.

I'd venture to say no. That one should be grandfathered in.

I am interested in the thread as I have 3 units that are not lifetime and while I am getting $6.95 on the DT unit because I committed to 3 years, I have two ST units, which recently fell off the S3 Lifetime Transfer 1 year 'Gravy Train' and are now being billed at the $12.95/month rate. Therefore, this being extended out for multiple units would be enough to fund a decent dinner out for the family - if not, certainly a few cases of beer!!!!!!
My dilemma is whether to buy 2 or 3 Tivo HD units, when I migrate my service over to Fios TV as I can't do it now because it is not yet provisioned in my area - just data. The cablecards will make the setup use much better as I wont' need any other type of interface box to work with my Tivo units, which will need to be rented, as well.
However, I refuse to make the transition now as Comcrap is soaking me for the cost of Cablecards - actually not the card itself, but the damn Digital A/O charges and stupid $5/mo per HD TV!!!! So, I am curious to see where this goes as I want the cheapest price possible as I didn't want to fork over like $2,100 for 3 units with lifetime, when that ws available - but probably would have been my best approach, if FIOS TV was available.
Anyways, carry on with the thread, but that was my 2 cents.

If you prepay one year of MSD for $99 that works out to $8.25/month or only $1.30/mo more than the $6.95/mo which makes it only about saving $15.60 a year.
But yes, I would switch the activation of the $6.95 S2 to the new HD and drop the S2.
