When I moved 3.5 years ago I upgraded to to 2 tivos and one new standard unit. At the time if you had the PREMIER package DVR service was free. Now since I just upgraded to HD I am getting charged $5.99 a month for DVR service.

Was this a slip on there part or is this something new?

Believe this happened with the last set of package changes. I haven't changed my package, so I am still not getting charged the DVR Fee, but if I was to make a change to my package, I'm sure they would put the fee back in.

I was told it would not change, but it did. :rolleyes: Guess my bill is going to be $16 higher now instead of $10.

I have the Premier pacakgae and no DVR fee. As far as i understand it the fee is included. Maybe this is another reason they want people to lose their Tivos and get their crappy DVR - so they can charge you more for using it.

If you were to alter your package at all you would have to start paying the fee... In the new Premier package it is not included any longer... I believe some people are grandfathered in....

You're grandfathered as long as you don't change your package.

At least they didn't jack up the price of premier. I've had it for a while, so my dvr service is grandfathered in. That's one more thing to make me think twice about ever changing packages, I guess.

It does make premier the oddball of the package choices. Every other package includes the channels/features of the previous package in the programming hierarchy.

Choice-->Choice Xtra(Choice+addl channels)-->Plus(Choice Xtra+DVR)-->PlusHD DVR(Plus + HD)-->Premier(Choice Xtra + Movie/Sports Package, no HD or DVR).

For what they charge for Premier, it wouldn't hurt to include HD+DVR, and maybe even discount mirroring fees. Seriously, who has only 1 tv today, anyway?

I have not seen, but is the grandfathered premier staying at $99, or is it going up 3 bucks? BTW, no charge here either for DVR service.
