I think Conan is funnier without his writers. Anyone agree? I also like that he can't always get actors on because they won't cross the picket line. Makes for more interesting guests.

I didn't vote because it's sort of both. It's definitely a different show now, though. Conan's really pulling out all the stops to make it a lively show. But I gotta wonder how long all the schtick can go on. There comes a time when all the goofiness wears thin, I suspect.

Slightly off topic: I didn't think a different drummer would matter, but I'm really glad to see Max back.

I passed this point long, long, ago with Conan, well before the writer's strike. I think he needs to add some maturity to the mix.

I prefer the child-like Conan. If he was anyone else, he'd be a bore, like the two elderly men that occupy the earlier time slot on CBS and NBC.

I agree with TivO'Brien -- I can't say whether it's better or worse without the writers, just that it's different.

As a longtime fan, though, I definitely wish he had Andy Richter back, to play off of during these writerless shows. Max doesn't really cut it as a sidekick.

It is very different. I always use Conan as my "morning" show; when I wake up, have breakfast, coffee, etc... For me, the new version doesn't work as well in this role.
