Surprised there's no thread yet. I guess people are waiting for the hi-def broadcast? Anyway...
I really liked the James Marsters character - John Hart. Hope he returns as Capt. Jack's foil again. It's basically a remake of his Spike character but I'm cool with that.
The blowfish in a suit was a bit bizarre.
I hope Jack doesn't get killed in every episode. It'll get a bit stale.

I thought it was great! I really liked Gwen's hair, I didn't like it at the start of season 1 but it has been gradually tweeked and now she looks great.
James Marsters was great and it was cool that he hadn't forgotten how to do the accent.

I'd seen discussion that UK shows were to be banished there, thanks for the reminder.
I'm having problems finding the forums for Canadian,Australian and Malaysian ( TAR Asia ) broadcasts though.

Wow. Posting about this show may come off my to-do list after reading the UK Torchwood thread. Too many people bitching.

People, people, please, you are ruining a perfectly wonderful opportunity to discuss the semantics of discussing television!!! ;)
I don't care about all the kissing and banging, just where should we discuss the show?
I'm waiting until the HD version is on HDNet because I want to discuss HD-Lite, vs. how it would look on my HR10 that has now been upgraded to an HR20, oops, 21, sorry now I can't even get OTA.... :D

Back to the topic:
If the rift reverted time back to the moment Cpt. John Hart exited the rift, where were the two guys having the scuffle over the hood of the car?

I wondered the same thing.

It was fun to see him again, though my first thought when we first see him and Captain Jack together and they immediately kiss and start fighting was to recall the first time he and Buffy hooked up on BTVS - very similar vibe, and they demolished several floors of a building in the process. The poor guy always seems to get written into seriously rough sex!
Regarding the accent though, the one he uses here is distinctly different from the one he used in Buffy. A bit drier, more trans-Atlantic, and not an easy match to any British regional accent I'm familiar with (and I've spent a fair amount of time over there).

Not a great episode, I fell asleep during part of it. I did think the first part with the blow fish was funny.

Wow... this was well worth waiting for. HD, uncensored, uncut, and commercial free? Jack & John making out and then kicking each other's butts? A blowfish driving a Crossfire and allowing a little old lady to cross the street?
I loved it. :D:up:

I find it interesting that in the same show, we have a Brit playing an American, and an American playing a Brit!

Jack has identified himself as American, and I know he referred to the town where he grew up, but no, I suppose we don't know where that town was located. I should ahve referred to the actors using opposite accents, I suppose ;)

His past confuses me, but I thought he was from the distant future, and that he only spent the 20th century in America...

No, he spent the 20th century in England. if I remember the episode where they went back to WWII correctly, he arrived in "our" timeline the day after the REAL Captain Jack Harkness was shot down. I believe he was born in our future. That's where the wrist-thingy came from.

Jack has also talked about being in 1918 and surviving the train massacre also.

(On the show, I mean...)John Barrowman was born in Scotland, so he could be of dual nationality, making him a Brit & an American

Jack has also talked about being in 1918 and surviving the train massacre also.I believe that was after "The Parting Of The Ways", when Jack was resurrected but left on the "Gamestation", he went down to Earth & entered the rift, to an undetermined time, where he waited for The Doctor's arrival in a time and place where Jack himself wouldn't have been previously.

He not only is from earth's future, but he eventually was called the "face" of his community.:D

I thought in the season finale of Doctor Who, that Jack told the doctor that
When he was a child, he was the poster-boy for his community, and that they had named him "The Face of Bo" which was the name of a recurring character, and a friend of the doctor in the first three seasons of the new show. Never heard of him in the old version of the show.

Woops!
I've been hung up on brit-speech lately and refered to the last season of Doctor Who as a "series". What we call a "season" here they refer to as a "series" over there. It's fixed now.
I was talking about the scene close to the end with Jack, The Doctor and Martha in Cardiff and the discussion they had before Jack went back to Torchwood.
Sorry 'bout my ill-worded, obtuse, lame joke spoiler.

Did anyone notice when they took John back to the hub and Jack was standing on the stone that lowers down (you know, the one where no one can see you when you're standing on it), John could see him??!?!
Some special talent/thingy time agents have?
:)
yeah, I'm watching it again!!!
3rd time now.

Jack Harkness = Jack1, other Jack = Jack2

at the risk of possibly having to find a dentist who's also a podiatrist,
Jack won "Rear of the Year" in 5094??!?!?
Should I not be spoilerizing this stuff? .... only spoilerize when "Spoilers Inside!" is not in the thread title?

If it happened in the episode mentioned in the thread title, no spoiler tags are needed. Spoiler tags are needed for "scenes from next week" and anything that comes from an outside source (newspaper/web/radio/whatever).
