When they did the split screens showing their interviews and current walks, the lighting on the left side made their faces all look like death. And must have been the camera but their faces all looked fatter on that side lol.

And some just seemed not to walk so well. NO i couldnt do what they do but they actually practice and want to do this so yes i expect perfection :)

The girl in the one piece swimsuit really stuck out. And the way they grouped the girls seemed a bit odd. I do like how at the end there arent just a few left so you know right away who wins when they choose 2nd.

I haven't had a chance to watch it yet but at least 2 airings so far ran a few minutes past their scheduled times. Be sure to pad the recording to have it end late by at least 2-3 mins.

On a side note, the fact that it's on TLC is odd. It has SO much to do w/learning.

Thread about the girl in the one-piece swimsuit: http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?t=382242

I think Miss Texas should have won. She was the best looking, and I loved her dance in the talent part. Also gave a good answer at the Q&A.

I didn't care much for the winner.

I hope this isn't thread crapping - but they still show this on TV? I'm shocked.

I had heard it moved to something like CMT or some other cable channel, and that it had such poor ratings that it had been canceled from there as well.

Yeah, it was on CMT last year, but they didn't want it I guess, so TLC took it over this year. They did some kind of reality show of it, before the live finale, if I understand things correctly. I only saw the finale.

I believe that's true. CMT aired it last year and didn't renew the contract. So TLC picked it up and turned it into a reality show. They aired four episodes showcasing the contestants learning how to compete in the new version of the pageant. They had "advisors" telling the girls how to update their look, their walk, their dress, etc. They went through challenges and the top three after the four weeks won some prizes. It will be interesting to see if this additional exposure helped TLC get better ratings than CMT got last year. I know my wife watched the pageant, when in the past she generally didn't know about it until the day after.

I only knew it would be airing thanks to the ads on the TiVo.

I didn't even see those. But my wife watches a lot of TLC, so that's how she knew about it this year. And I guess they aired that reality show each of the last few weeks, but the then did a marathon of it on Saturday before the live finale, and that's what my wife recorded and watched.

The girl who won grew up in my home town :)

Die-hard Seinfeld fans would know what I'm talking about! :D

Doesn't Trump own this now?

positively not, if he did he would be on the show self promoting! Like his other shows.

Did you notice when the host was in the aisles people were still finding their seats..was too funny

and he seemed to be really terrible and not confident at all. Was he someone or just a guy that showed up for the job. He made one statement that congrats to everyone making it this far when they were all up on stage! duh..they all made it

Sometimes it's best to let a past good TV idea, die a honorable death. That time has long past for The Miss America pageant.

He own's the Miss USA franchise. Not really sure what the difference is, but that's why it sounded familiar to you :)

Yeah, the host was crap. Especially when he called Miss Wisconsin "Miss Wyoming". You'd think he'd be able to read, and/or remember that Wyoming was not in the top 10.

I don't mind that "making it this far" comment though, I assumed he meant that he congratulated them on representing their states.

I thought he owned part of Miss America as well at one point, but I can't find any reference to it. Apparently, he tried to buy the Miss America pageant in 2005, but was turned down.

The main differences are, the Miss America pageant has a talent competition and awards scholarships; the Miss USA pageant does not have a talent competition, and awards cash and prizes. (There's also an unofficial difference: if you're looking for someone to host a daytime talk show, go for a Miss America; if you're looking for a prize model for a game show, go for a Miss USA.)

What I want to know is, do they still play only the second half of the theme song at the end of the pageant (since the first half includes the words "Atlantic City")?

Did you catch the second "host" asking one of the eliminated girls what it was like to get up on stage in a bikini in front of millions of people? And she replied, "How would I know? I've been sitting here with you."

the bikini line was funny. And regarding that incorrect state, he was just shy to look at her boobs i think

this was botched on so many levels, shame it coulda been decent.

just starting by carrying over from the reality shows was a bad start. having them wear jeans and those awful color shirts. for the reality show it was ok but for the true pageant it was embarassing having those groups of non winners, bridesmaids and the oldest group, bad bad bad.....

cutting down to the final 10 and then having all 10 dress in their talent costumes but cutting 2 of them before they did their talent, awful

and not cutting down from 8 to top five, again WHAT?????

ok, you final 4 there, one is Ms America and the other three are #6/7/8. again just bad bad bad.

and the end after the crowning, there was no runway to walk, they let her step down to the audience floor and walk around the judges and then back on the stage, argh.......

what a joke, by far the worst produced Ms America pageant ever.

for those with the newer mpeg4 receivers, was it broadcast in HD on the new TLC HD channel? looked bland in SD on regular TLC channel 280
