View Full Version : How Do I Go To My Most Recent Forum Thread?

I've been struggling with this since the new Forum format.

I can search for User Name/Find Posts by User and pull up the list of threads in which I have posted.

In the old forum format, I could click on a link that took me directly to MY OWN last post in each of the threads (one at a time). Then I could read all of the messages after the one I posted.

Now, I can hover over the red/orange envelope and see "You have 2 post(s) in this thread, last 1-25-08. I see a white checkmark on a blue background, but it takes me to the LAST post in the thread, not my OWN last post in the thread.

The name of the thread takes me to the FIRST post in the thread.

The little note for Multithreads will link me to each page by number or the LAST page.

HOW DO I GET DIRECTLY TO MY OWN LAST POST?

Thanks for the quick reply. The link didn't take me to a page with information, but I'll try it again later.

So I still have to go through the first few steps to get to the page I orginally described, but then add the two additional steps? What is the purpose of my original sort, then, if I need to sort again?

I much preferred the old architecture where I could click on something in the first sort screen described in my original post.

However, that aside, THANK YOU. I have been trying to perform this function for several months with the new interface, and you are the first one who could direct me how to do it. My hat's off to you.

Thanks. The link worked this time.

And by the way, I enjoyed coming directly to my post in this thread using your clear instructions. You solved a big, irritating problem for me.

The way I manage it is by auto-subscribing to any thread that I post into. (You can set this up in your profile, or do it manually when you post to a thread.) And, subscribing to threads that I want to follow but I don't post into. Then, in the QuickLinks menu choose "Subscribed Threads". Any with new messages will be bold and at the top.

Then, you can view "New Messages" after that.

Before leaving any formum mark all messages read.

Seems to work for me. Many forums use this same software even though they may be skinned differently.

BObI like the "new" forum formatting, colors, etc. but I do miss being taken back to the TCF Main Forums page after clicking on "Mark All Messages Read". It's only one additional click, but it was a very convenient feature in the "old" system. I left a message in the Forum Ops Center (http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/forumdisplay.php?f=20) (along with others). Perhaps they'll reinstate it.
