I activated an HD with 1 yr.service(prepaid)2 months ago. I called about Lifetime and was told I would have to cancel HD service and buy Lifetime up until Feb.13.(which is tough to come up with the additional $399.00) Could I transfer the 1 yr.prepay over to an RS-TX20 I've never put any service on?

I believe you could transfer your prepay service to the RS-TX20. You can do that online under Manage My Account->Change Service Number (https://www3.tivo.com/tivo-mma/dvrchange.do).

I assume you could then buy lifetime on your TivoHD by calling. But I am not 100% positive on that.

Yes that is what I was thinking also...doing the transfer online...I'm just a little shy on doing the $399.00 LT do to cash flow but have been forced to make this decision quickly unfortunately..:(...Feb.13 seems to be the "end date"!

Which promotion are you using anyways? I see the hdgift one now says April 1, 2008.

Can you buy lifetime separately and apply it to a previously activated TivoHD?

You can buy $399 lifetime for an S1 if you want. The offer is not for new activations only and is not for the HD only. It can be used for ANY tivo.

Not that I doubt you, but do you have a link? I missed hearing about this offer.

The RS-TX20 is a series 2 as I recall....
I now have 2 new HD's 1 of which I put a 1yr.prepay on it 2 months ago....I also have the S2 TX-20 with basic(never been activated with any pay service) and 2 ST I got 2 months ago which I also activated with 1yr.prepay.
I know time is running out to decide whether to get LT which is costly(to me anyways) on what...probably "should" put it on "both" HD's........decisions, decisions:confused:
Then I do have an additional S2DT nib which I thought I might transfer from 1 of the ST's to.

I guess I wasn't clear on if anything was available...not that I would want to...unless I could do it for the original offer of $299.00.....then tranfer over to 1 of the HD's :) but I believe that was only way back when I got the RS-TX20.....

Now I am getting even more confused. :)

When you say HD you mean a TivoHD? How many total Tivos do you own?

What is a "and 2 ST"? A Single Tuner S2?

Tivo sent an email to everyone that was eligible back in November.
I don't have that email anymore.
All I could find was at tivo lovers blog (last entry on page)
http://www.tivolovers.com/tag/lifetime/

But if you sign in to your tivo.com account and check the price plans, $399 lifetime is listed and if you go to activate a new subscription, $399 lifetime will be there as an option.
