View Full Version : THD recording glitch??? "DVR needs to change the channel..." message

I am trying to figure out if this is a glitch or just a bug or what...

I am a familiar with the TiVo message that the "DVR needs to change the channel on the other tuner or change the channel at x:00pm to record a show..." when you have some slated for one tuner or both but I am seeing that my THD's (all 3 of them) seem to show this message when the it shouldn't need to.

Here is the scenario...watching LiveTV and the other tuner is recording and the recorded show is set to end at 9pm. I have another show slated to record at 9pm (there are NO guide conflicts with minute overages that I have found) and at 8:57 or whatever the THD tells me that it needs to change the channel on the tuner I am watching at 9pm to record a show??? This never happened before on my old DTV HR-10-250...It should know the other tuner will be free at 9pm and change that tuner and let me continue watching the buffer or livetv on the second tuner...right??

Has anyone see this or am I crazy? (ok loaded question...but still!)

Its terribly annoying when I have a show buffered and I know there are no conflicts on the recording of the other tuner but the THD forces me to use the current tuner for the 9pm show when the other will be free.

anyone have thoughts?

I would doublecheck the start and end times for the shows in question. Many network shows these days seem to start at times like 8:57 or end at 9:02, something I presume is done to prevent people with single-tuner DVRs from recording shows on other channels.

ok, I am not going crazy ... yet. One Tivo HD works fine while the other Tivo HD (both purchased and software version upgraded at the same time) is doing exactly what has been described above.

Time to read the above threads. :)

This is an annoyance introduced with a recent version of the software. I fully expect TiVo to fix it with the next major software release.
