Ref: Tivo HD hooked with HDMI to Sony Bravia LCD TV (good to 1080). No digital cable yet - only OTA for HD. Anyway, if I set Tivo under Video to fixed 1080i and come back at a later time, I find that it has reset itself to 720. I thought that if you set to 1080 TIvo would upconvert for display on the TV. Ideas? Many tyanks.

I get it setting itself to 720p (fixed) when I've set it to hybrid. Its a bug. Its a very annoying bug, and I hope there's an upgrade which fixes it sometime soon.
Edit: Clarify what 720p is being set.

If you have it set to Hybrid then that is the intended behavior. Hybrid leaves the HD content alone and upscales 480i to 480p. Since the menus are in 720p (sort of) you'll be forced to switch back and forth.

I assume he's saying it went from hybrid to 720p fixed. One of my Tivo HDs did something like this a few days ago. It was set to 1080i fixed. I rebooted to clear up a jerky HD picture problem and it came back with fixed, hybrid, 720p and 1080i lights all on. Eventually either the fixed or hybrid light went off. Later I noticed it was really set to 720p fixed and had to go in and set it to 1080i.
A variation of this has happened with more than once, on both of my TiVo HDs I think.

If you have it set to Hybrid then that is the intended behavior. Its not intended behaviour that it sets itself to 720p fixed on its own. I have to keep going back into the menus and setting it back to hybrid. I expect to get 720p out of hybrid, I also expect to get 1080i and 480p, not just 720p.

My other TiVo had done this when I turned on the TV last night. It had gone from Native to 480p fixed (or 480i, but I think it was p) since the last time we'd watched it. It had been paused while playing a recorded show. I think the show was in HD, probably 1080i, but at least either one of 720p/1080i.
