As it stands now, when I transfer a video file from my PC to my TiVoHD by finding my PC at the bottom of the Now Playing list and selecting a file to transfer, the resulting program is just listed in root of the Now Playing list with whatever filename it has.

I'd like to be able to be able to selectively group multiple programs (say different episodes of the same show) into folders. Is there anyway to do that?

The pyTiVo crowd has this working. The key is getting the Series ID into the metadata of the show being transferred.

TiVo Desktop won't do this.

TiVo Desktop won't do this. Does it work for S3/THD units? I could swear last I checked this was working for S2 units only but maybe that has changed.

Well, the metadata portion definitely works. I still think there's a requirement that the show be in the current Guide data in order for the folder to actually appear though, not sure.

Edit: It occurs to me that you probably meant TivoToComeBack in general. Yeah, that's been working on the S3/THD since, what, October?

I haven't messed with the meta data yet, but when I'm on the PC (windows or Linux) using pyTivo, I just set up different shares (HomeMovies, movies, Tom's Shows... etc), and then copy the files around accordingly.

The OP is referring to getting folders on the TiVo, though.

Galleon and pyTiVo both do this fairly well with some limitations.

Has that been an officially announced feature? Has TiVo reworked their HMO to get rid of the folder bug?

Yeah, I don't remember reading about that in the 2.6 news/threads.

That would be sweet, but where did you hear that?

Honestly I don't know. When I saw the demo at CES, They showed Folder capability for Podcast downloads.

Ie... when you download videos for a podcast. Then each podcast gets a folder & all of the video feeds for each podcast goes into it's folder. As shown from the TIVO side of things.

Example...

If you have subscribed to Hubblecast HD podcast, & National Geographic HD, & Stump the Chef Podcasts...

You would have 3 folders. each with podcasts names as the folder names.. then each folder. you would have that podcasts weekly video podcast downloads.

NOW... the question is.... If you have your own video (home or ripped DVD's) will you be able to make your own folders for those.

From what I saw, it looked like you could. Honestly though. I could be wrong. I just hope Im not.

At CES they were just really showing off the fact that the TWO big things is that it works with iTUNES for Podcasts. AND that TiVo Desktop can NOW TRANSFER HD video to your TiVo. HD Video being in the format of MPG2, Or MP4 (H.264).

I hope so, I have all the futurama episodes on the tivo and 72 episodes in one folder is a real pain, would be nice to divide them by season
