Beware of Monthly charges

After transferring lifetime service from my old series 1 TIVO to the series 3, after 1 year I am getting charged $12.95/month for the service on the old, series 1!

It seems you have to actively CANCEL the old tivo service.

Watch for that.

It's in the terms and conditions of the Lifetime Transfer offer:

Once the Product Lifetime Subscription is transferred to the Qualifying DVR, the original DVR will automatically be activated for a free twelve (12) month pre-paid TiVo service subscription. All terms and conditions for a twelve (12) month prepaid subscription will apply. At the end of twelve (12) month free subscription, you will be automatically rolled to then-applicable monthly rate. The twelve (12) month free subscription is not transferable to another party.

BTW, I thought that one of my free years was expiring today.. but I checked online and in the change credit card section it says Jan 29, 2007 is the payment plan start date. Which is pretty weird, since I know I got it near the very end of Dec 2006 (when Dec 31 was the deadline at that point). I wouldn't've had free guide data for that long.. I wonder if it was extended to the end of the month for everyone?

It's still set to be an old credit card, so if somehow the 'real' date and the date the web page are showing is different, I presume I'll get an email about it.

Nope, mine was Jan 24, 2007. Called and cancelled it earlier tonight. :(
