December 4th 2007, I bought the TIVOHD from costco. Today I returned it to costco. I was fed up with the constant cable card 2 problems with cablevision.

I prepaid for a year when I signed up at xmas. I realize that I wouldn't get that back, but would I be required to also pay an early termination fee? Would I be better just not doing anything until next November and just not renew then?

You have a 30 grace period to decide if you like the Tivo service. That's 30 days from when you activated the service. You say you bought it on Dec 4, what day did you activate the box at the Tivo web site?

Why don't you take this up with cablevision? It's their problem.

I guess Verizon FiOS isn't available in your area yet? Better picture quality than Cablevision for less money, they don't give you the same runaround about using your own TiVO DVR.
