I'd like to transfer some shows recorded on my old Series 2 Tivo to my new Series 2 DT without buying a wired or wireless USB adapter for the old Tivo. I'm looking for a way to do this, for instance, by:
1) removing the hard drive from the old Tivo;
2) somehow transferring the Tivo files to my computer's hard drive (XP SP2, no Linux); then,
3) using Tivo Desktop software to transfer the files from the computer to the new Tivo via ethernet port/home network.
Since I've never worked with Linux, I don't know how to do step 2 (from a software perspective) and I don't know whether step 3 is doable with the Tivo Desktop software (which I've never used). I don't want to incapacitate my old Tivo--so I know not to boot into XP with the Tivo hard drive on an EIDE cable.
If there's another approach, I'm all ears. Thanks in advance for your help.
