Switching Program Source

I can't get my Phillips S1 box to switch from IR control to serial. When I go in Cable box setup, I choose that I have a Motorola box. It already knows Comcast is my carrier and they have supposedly sent a fix to my box. After I choose Motorola, it goes to the IR checklist without giving me an option to choose a serial port.

I desperately want to use serial control and went thru many people at Comcast to remedy this situation. Can someone help?

I think you have to go back further in the setup procedure. Not just to where you select the box you are using but before that where you select the type of control. I seem to remember this from awhile ago. Now I'll let someone with an SA TiVo verify this. :)

Series 1s officially don't support serial for cable boxes. There may be a hack to enable it though. If the capability were there, there would be a serial option, just like there is for satellite.
