I just bought a DTS2 to simplify my life, and I've got a few questions.
1. The first day I had it, during the football playoffs, it rebooted spontaneously several times. It hasn't done it the second day. Is this a normal "breaking in" thing, or should I be worried. All I was doing was recording two shows at once. If this keeps happening, should I return the unit to Tivo for replacement, or is there another option.
2. Why is the OS less sophisticated than my S2 240 vintage? It seems to be lacking the folders, the undelete feature, and the single button delete. Why is this since the DT unit was released later? Is there a software update that will fix this?
Thanks.

1 Series 2 Tivo 80 hours Lifetime

Yes. This apparently occurs with the software shipped on new DTs.
A software update to 9.1xx.. will almost certainly remedy matters.
I bought one and shipped it back for exchange. Second one did the same until it updated. It should only take a day or so to update.
Has the same os as all S2s. Nothing lacking.

1 Series 2 Tivo 140 hours (unsubbed)Congrats on the new baby! To answer your questions:
1. No spontaneous reboots are not normal. The only time TiVo should/would reboot is after a software upgrade and that will happen at 2 a.m. your time. Power failures, surges, etc. can cause a spontaneous reboot. It's highly recommended that you have your TiVo on a UPS battery back-up/surge protector (http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/APC-UPS-Surge-Protector-BE350R/sem/rpsm/oid/134572/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do) to avoid any electrical problems. Otherwise a malfunctioning HDD or other hardware issues can cause TiVo to reboot unexpectedly. If this continues to happen (even once more) TiVo will replace it within the 30 day warranty period for free.
2. TiVo is shipped with the software that was available at the time it was manufactured and will generally be older than the current software release. You should see an automatic upgrade to the current software and all of its features within 48 to 72 hours (usually less). TiVo's priority is to first get all of your guide data, then to upgrade the software.
You can try to force an upgrade by going to Messages & Settings->Settings->Phone & Network->Connect now. Try that a few times. Once the download has completed you may see "Pending Restart" listed in the “Last Status” line on the Phone & Network Screen (http://i16.tinypic.com/85w4qk8.jpg) or on the System Information screen (http://i10.tinypic.com/6kzrwwi.jpg). TiVo will automatically install the upgrade at 2 a.m. your time or you can reboot it (unplug it and plug it back in) and it will update immediately.
Enjoy!
