6131 and Skip to Tick

I used a 6131 for years with my TiVO series 2 and it worked great. It died when I washed it with the sheets, and I got a new one. It's all set up, but I can't remember how to program "skip to tick" and I loved that feature. I couldn't find an advanced code for it. Anyone?

It shouldn't need programming, if you've already got the remote set up for a Tivo -- it will just be there, on the key with an arrow pointing to a vertical line.

(It's the same key as 30-second skip, but they're the same code to the Tivo. AFAIK there's no way to get skip-to-tick and 30-sec skip programmed separately; however, you can still use skip-to-tick when you have 30-sec. skip enabled -- you just have to start fast-forwarding or rewinding first.)

It is set up for a TiVO, and all the other buttons on the remote (including those I input using the Advanced Codes) are working fine. But the key you described skips to end or skips to beginning no matter what you're doing or where you are in the recording - play, ff, rewind, etc. That was definitely the key I used on my old 6131, I just couldn't recall if it did that automatically or if I had to program it. Odd.

You forgot to enable the function in the Tivo itself; that is the problem, not your remote. Enter the select-play-select-3-0-select code rapidly while in a program, until you hear the 3 chimes. At some point your Tivo was rebooted and lost the setting, though the very latest versions of software should retain this.

FYI, that code re-programs the TiVo itself to perform the 30s skip when the (->|) button is pressed. So once the TiVo is programmed for that function any compatible remote will do the skip.

However, a reboot of the TiVo resets that function to its original. Also, don't do the S-P-S-3-0-S too quickly.

Not on V9+ of the software the 30 s skip does not go off with a re-boot.

To use the skip to tick, hit the fast forward button once, then hit the skip to tick button, then hit play.

The S2s I have default to no 30 second skip. Select-play-select-3-0-select re-enables it.

Will the select-play, etc. work using the 6131 (I don't have the original remote)?

Should... It's something the TiVo does, not the remote.

The remote is only used to re-program the TiVo as I said above.

And, I forgot about the v9x firmware function.
