Hello,
While I have adjusted to life sans Tivo, the wife and kids are having a tougher time with the Dish DVR. I want to add a standalone series2 box. The question is how to integrate them so that the two DVRs do not have conflicts, with overlapping recording events. The VIP722 has a "Dual Mode" which is basically a second zone, so that the system coordinates commands coming from two rooms (2 remotes, actually) and distributes the proper content to the proper output. The second zone is SD, not HD, which matches the Series2 unit.
My question is, when setting up a Series2 unit to control the ViP722 can you designate it as the second zone? The second zone Dish remote is RF, not IR, and the Tivo repeater is IR, not RF, so I don't know if the ViP722 can accept second zone commands via RF or if the Series2 Tivo can be set to impersonate the second zone.
Any experience here appreciated. Thanks,
JD
