santa brought a spanking new TIVO HD for xmas. Being an owner of 2 other Tivo's and wanting to record HD, its been on my list for sometime. I drove to the local comcast office and they provided me with two M-Cards. Installed one, and tried pairing-- get channels but not premium or some HD channels. Tried other one, and did the whole pairing again, no deal. Had tech out here, who suggested that obviously the TIVO is defective and I should return it. I challenged him to install those cards on my Plasma.. and same issue. So its not the TIVO, its comcast. I am still without a Tivo and have another tech stopping by on Wed. This is extremely frustrating. At the end of the day, Comcast does not have qualified techs, the CSR's are clueless, and I dont have my TIVO working. I have read the threads, and can see that the card needs to validated, and I have tried explaining to no avail. I'll see what wed brings.

has anyone successfully installed a TIVO HD with a Multi thread COMCAST card? Wondering, since they seem to be clueless as to what a cable card is.

I have a M-Card in mine, with Comcast. No issues with install or operation.

One card or two? I heard that with the M card you only need one. Is this true for dual tuner functionality?

In a Series 3, you need two, as it does not support multistream mode.
In a Tivo HD, you only need a single M Card, as it does support multistream mode.

Yes, ONE Motorola MCard installed by Comcast into my THD last Friday (12/28) and I have both tuners working. You have to keep calling back until you get a tech/CSR/dispatch that have either done it before or are competent enough to get it installed and working for you. It's very unfortunate in the areas where Comcast is the only available cable operator.

Success!
New rep came out today and working with someone who is in the Cable card support center got it to work. As read in previous threads, it was in relation to how the card was setup in their system. Basicly, what Comcast did today, was remove the card from TIVO, removed the card from my account. Then started from scratch. It seems that the card was incorrectly setup.
So now, I finally have my TIVO HD setup, installed the 500GB expansion, and now in the process of xferring shows from my old TiVo to the HD.
For those having problems with Comcast.. hang in there it took them three tries to get it right.
Good luck
