:( bye Kent & Vyxsen
I still don't understand how they didn't U-turn Nate and Jen knowing full well that they were behind them.

Just when you thought the title of the episode (Honestly, They have witch powers or something!) might contain a spoiler, surprise!

Apparently they didn't know 'full well' that they were behind them.

As much as I hate Nate and Jen, K & V deserved to go. The u-turn screwup was horrible.

Kynt was kind of a ding dong, but I liked them too.
That tender moment in the cab between Itchy & Scratchy was pretty funny.

Me too! Spoiled all my fun!
Vyxen displayed great self control not to blame Kynt for his dumbass move!!
Daddy, step away from the Poster and let your much more sensible and talented daughter get it done! She must have got her looks, personality and intelligence from her Mothers side as she certainly didn't get any from YOU!!!
And take that "who's your daddy" shirt off, hasn't anyone explained the inappropriate sexual overtones to him yet???

Kind of sorry to see the Goth Gals go. They were starting to grow on me. But their mistake at the U-Turn was incredibly stupid. Of course, they probably thought that Nate and Jenn had beat them there so they had to guess. Kynt's leaving the order slips with the customers was also very stupid. But I had to laugh at Kynt yelling at people to get out of his way because he thought he had no brakes.
Glad to see TK and Rachel doing well. I love their calm temperament.

in previous seasons, you could tell who had already passed through the U-turn...not sure why this was changed this year...
or am I confusing a U-turn with a Yield? I thought they were both the same thing in terms of taking your pic out of the box...

Yeah I was confused about that as well.
Jennifer needs to dump that chump and get with a real man-namely me!

Nate and Jen's bickering makes me and my wife LOL! We had to rewind the part when he was complaining that she couldn't sew flowers even though she's a girl. She had a great comeback about why couldn't he row a boat even though he's a guy. Good stuff!

I'd be surprissed if either of those young people knew how those old elevators worked until someone told them. I'm sure Jen didn't know until someone told her it wasn't coming because the door was probably open.
Keep in mind she's the same person who was looking all over for the Bride-Groom ( she kept saying it as two words ). Eventually she thought she'd figured out it was the elephant and handed the flowers to it. I really wanted to see the elephant eat all the flowers right there, then we'd have seen the meltdown we wanted.

Seems that cab rides dictated this leg in lots of ways.
People finished the tasks faster but at the next clue box had been passed. Happened several times to several teams.

Wow, that u-turn decision was painful to watch.
It's too bad the show hyped up the airport shenanigans, only for the teams to get to India and bunch up until 6am.

Yeah that was rather interesting to see.

They do get some money at each leg. You can see them handling it with the clue when they depart the pitstop.

It's more like the fast forward lets them the win that leg and the prize. Sometimes the prizes are pretty questionable like a catamaran. Sometimes they are great like "Gas for Life" and the vacations.
It seems to have nothing to do with the big picture which is to never come in last.

They don't always mention it anymore, but in this episode I did hear one of the teams read off the clue that they had $105 for this leg of the race.
I really liked the Speed Bump concept. An extra task is a much better solution to the non-elim leg penalty than a lot of the ways they've dealt with it before (like the begging and losing your belongings).
and there is no more begging because they don't take all the money/possessions of the last place team on non-elimination legs. that changed last season with the "marked for elimination" 30 minute penalty if you don't come in 1st. This year they have the "speed bump".

Right, that was my point. I liked the SpeedBump better than the other approaches.
I missed the last 10 minutes - didn't pad enough for the Jet's game. Saw it only as far as Jen yelling at Kynt to close the elevator door. Was there anything significant after that or was it just that Jenn was one delivery ahead of Kynt? Thanks.

Kynt forgot (or grabbed the wrong) receipts and had to go back. Jen and Nate thought they could run to the fort (pit stop) until the people in the street told them they needed to get a taxi. But it was still close after that and nothing else exciting happened

the newspaper put a date with the race, July 24, 2007 in mumbai.
the grandson/grand dad, have money to go grab a hotel room after they just had a 12 hour stopover, they can only grab a short sleep having to get to the airport 3-4 hours later but then have a super long flight ahead where they could catch a good bit of sleep??
CsrLiz344
12-31-2007, 08:26 PM
That's what I said when I saw them get the room. After an (at least) 12 hour rest, why would you need to go to sleep again?
I think I would have rather had Nate and Jen get elim'd then the Goth Gals. Their (N&J) fighting is really getting on my nerves-as well as dad's and Chris's.

I totally wish they'd do a special about how they actually make the Amazing Race. Heck, even have it as DVD extras on a season, even if it's "only" 10 mins or so per episode. But I think they could really do a lot more detail. Basically, I'm curious about how they get the various airports/people to play along with them.. and do they have people watching the clue boxes all the time so people don't vandalize them, etc..
Even info about how they cause the 'bunch ups' would be interesting.

Rule # 1 when running the Amazing Race? Read the fracking clue!!!
Rule # 2? Read it again and make sure you understand it!!!
They did a great job in editing to make it look like it was neck and neck from the point where Jenn and Kynt crossed paths delivering. However, when Jenn got back to the gas company we saw Vyxsin waiting, but from that point on we didn't see them together. Kynt had to go from there and still make another delivery, then go back for the receipts like Jenn did.
I'm guessing it really wasn't anywhere NEAR as close as they edited to make it look. Made for good TV, though!
U-turning the Grands has to be close to the biggest reality show blunder ever - neck & neck with James not playing the Hidden Immunity Idol when he got voted out. I almost screamed at the TV!
I have to second the wish that Jenn had fed the flowers to the elephant! The subsequent meltdown would have been priceless! Plus, I really wanted them and their constant bickering to be gone.

Yeah, I didn't think about that until Nick & Don decided to get a hotel room for about four or five hours. I think it's a good thing that they seem to have plenty of money. The show should not expect the contestants to beg for money or rip off cab drivers in a foreign country, it's just not right.

I wonder if Nick & Don just went back to the hotel room they had been staying in before they left.
Presumably the show puts them up in a hotel at the pit stops, and IIRC, their departure time for the leg was something like 11:30pm, and the flight left at 5:30am. Since they were one of only two teams who were smart enough to pre-book their tickets, they didn't need to stay camped out at the airport.

If the Goth's thougth Nate and Jen beat them to the U-turn don't you think Nate and Jen would have U-turned them? They were obviously neck to neck at the flower sewing task.

It was clearly poor judgment that lost it for the goths...
Why u-turn someone you "think" is behind you when you can u-turn someone you know is behind you? (or at the very least, know they are damn near close to you)...

As mentioned above, they still do have a predetermined amount of money that they have for "this leg of the race", as, I think, it was Chris that was counting out and reading aloud that they had $105 for this leg.
I assume that they can still keep whatever money they have remaining from previous legs as well?
I wonder if Nick & Don just went back to the hotel room they had been staying in before they left.
Good thought! I hadn't thought of that possibility.

How are people liking Nick and Don? The grandpa is doing a great job and it quite the trooper, but the grandson is a tool. He made the grandpa do way too many tasks early on while he sat on his arse, and he nearly singlehandedly lost them the race when he couldn't find the salon in Lithuania.

He really is a tool. He's making Gramps do practically all the work, and he constantly whines and complains. I loved how Gramps was hauling around all the propane tanks and whatnot, while he was going NOTHING, and then once they are back together he's all "I'm going to pass out! This is so hard!" while Gramps isn't complaining about anything.

How are people liking Nick and Don?
I think that there are a few options for answers to that question:
a) Nick's mellowed out a bit since the early part of the race (and started pulling more of the load -- like with the propane tanks this week)
b) They are getting some respect for following through with the tattoo
c) Between Ron and Jen & Nate, Nick's antics have simply been overshadowed by their more annoying behavior
d) The grandpa is really likable (save for the couple times that we've seen him near-naked)

I don't think "they knew for a fact" that Nate and Jen were behind them. N&J left the flower shop first but got lost with a bad cab driver. Unless the Goth Gals actually saw N&J in the other cab as they passed, they had to assume that N&J were still ahead. (Although logically they might have guessed that since N&J didn't U-Turn them, they fell behind.)
Speaking of meltdowns, I would have loved to have seen Jen convince Nate to take the Fast Forward, only to cry when she found out about the permanent tatoos.
