View Full Version : Better way to sort the now playing list

I used to have a DirecTIVO for DirecTV. For that unit at least, there was a back door code that allowed me to enable a different now playing list sort, with the oldest programs listed at the top of the list. Now I have a Series 3 and I would like to know if there is a way to do it with the Series 3.

The problem is a bit aggrevating. With the TIVO upgraded to 2 TB, there is capacity to record lots of shows and that makes the now playing list very large. Having to scroll all the way down to the bottom every time, to play the oldest recordings first, is a pain. Why TIVO corporation decided to sort the list the way they do makes no sense for people with large recording capacities.

Can anyone help me figure out how to make the oldest recordings appear at the top of the list? Thanks.

I forgot to mention. With the DirecTivo the code was

Sorting the Now Playing List, In Now Playing, Enter:

(S)low (0)Zero (R)ecord (T)humbsUp

I tried it on the Series 3 and it does not seem to work. If I am doing it correctly.

On my S2, you cannot have the oldest recording first. But, here's what you can do - (at least you can do this on an S2, but I think it should work the same on an S3)

Press Enter, from the NPL.
Sort by date, and turn off Folders.

This will sort the NPL from the Newest recordings at the top.

Then from the NPL hit the "Skip to Tick" button (looks like this: -->|) and it will take you to the bottom (or oldest) of the NPL without having to scroll through each page.

Use 30 seconds skip button to jump to the end of the list.

jjberger2134 and eaglecrest,

Wow, thank you so much for sharing that information. I tried it and it works. This forum and the people on it are awesome. Happy New Year.
