There is an old show from the 70's that I'd like to get a copy of.

"Earth II"
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0067039/

Anyone know where I can get a DVD of this? Thanks!

It looks like it never made it to retail. I do see some torrents out there, maybe. You might be able to get it that way and burn your own DVD.

Dude, original post stated from the 70's. Earth 2 that you linked to was a 90's TV series.

This person apparently is offering DVD's of it, among several other difficult/impossible-to-find titles, mostly ABC-TV movies:

I'd like to see Starlost again. Ark II was a bit like a take off of "Damnation Alley". But much more kid focused...

Ark II (http://www.amazon.com/Ark-II-Complete-2/dp/B000IU37UC/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1198969817&sr=8-1) is out on DVD. I rented them from Blockbuster Online a few months ago.

Interesting...

Starlost had great scifi potential, but the effects were cheesy then, I wonder how they will seem now. Still, I'll pick it up... :) Thanks!

Found another rare 1970's scifi show on ebay Planet Earth (http://cgi.ebay.com/Gene-Roddenberry-16mm-feat-film-Planet-Earth-Star-Trek_W0QQitemZ130185529243QQihZ003QQcategoryZ63821QQssPageNa meZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)

Gene Roddenberry created this as a TV pilot after Star Trek was cancelled.

Roddenberry also created:
"Questar Tapes" (1975 TV Movie)
"Genesis II" (1973, Roddenberry TV Pilot - try #1)
"Planet Earth" (1974, Roddenberry TV Pilot - try #2)
“Strange New World” (1975, Roddenberry TV Pilot - try #3)

Trivia... The lead character in Genesis II, Planet Earth and Strange new world was named "Dylan Hunt" which was the name later given to the lead character in Andromeda. (Another Roddenberry creation)

Actually, Roddenberry had nothing to do with Strange New World (http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0073754/) but they did borrow a few things from him, including John Saxon (http://us.imdb.com/name/nm0768334/) as "Captain Anthony 'Tony' Vico".

True... But it was 'inspired' by Gene. Even if others were driving it. It is still loosely based on the Genesis II idea.

Well, the source above was able to deliver:

"Earth II" (1971)
"Genesis II" (1973)
"Planet Earth" (1974)
"Questar Tapes" (1975)

The DVD's are DVD-R's with hand written titles and the quality is, well, sub-VHS...

But they are watchable and they bring back memories from a long time ago...

All in all, I was quite pleased with the responsiveness and service of the website. Understand that I expected that the DVD's would be low video quality and just the video on the disk (no fancy menus). But when you can not get what you are looking for anywhere else, this is much better than nothing...

Now I just have to find a source for "Strange New World" ;)

I love watching The Questor Tapes... and it's been awhile. I'm pretty sure I recorded it on VHS and still have the tape. Though it's now packed away in the attic. nd to watch it I'd also have to hook up a VCR someplace. :)

I really was hoping that'd become a series. Still do.

Not to hijack this thread, but does anybody remember a show about a group of people who "discover" they are living in a giant greenhouse space ship (i.e. Silent Running) and are on a quest to fine the lost bridge?

This thread got me thinking about it but I can't remember the name and it's driving me nuts.

TIA, Steve

Not to hijack this thread either, but does anyone know the name of a pilot that aired in the mid to late 80's about a group of aliens living on Earth and studying us? The only other thing I remember is that the aliens looked like us and they had their own building (!) on a city block that they worked out of.

Believe it or not, that's all I can remember. I think someone "like" Ralph Macchio or C. Thomas Howell was in it...I've checked and it wasn't either one of them though.

I think I've asked this before several years ago, but I'm still looking!

P.S. I'm not talking about Alien Nation. :)

There was "V" (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0085106/), that is the best I can offer without more hints...

Yes, admittedly my memories are extremely vague. I'm sure it wasn't V.

It's possible that they were not aliens but from the future (egads!). I also remember that the Ralph Macchio/C. Thomas Howell-type character was not one of them, because I remember they took him into the building and he was amazed by all of the technology.

Yikes. This is really racking my brain.

Hmmm....

Probably not Hard Time on Planet Earth (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hard_Time_on_Planet_Earth)...

Or Voyagers (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0083500/)...

sorry, can't do much better...

Another thread hijack - I remembered an old TV show that had characters on it that you could fire a toy gun at and gain points. The show actually was pretty good. I watched it as an adult. I think it was Captain Power. Well, I went on a quest for the DVDs and they were all bootleg. Since most DVD players warn that homemade discs may not work, I did not waste my money on them.

Well, it worked out very well.

I picked up Earth II (1971), Genesis II (1973), Planet Earth (1974), Strange New World (1975), and The Questor Tapes (1974).

I've watched Questor Tapes, Earth II (and now know why it never became more than just a pilot ;)) and Genesis II. Earth II was recorded off TCM, and Genesis II was TBS. The recordings are not great, but they they were watchable and were great for bringing back great memories.

As far as ordering from the link above, I had no problems and in fact were pleased with the turn around time. The discs are just recordable DVDs with Sharpie labeled names in plastic cases.

For the memories, it was definitely worth the cost!
