Did anyone actually see Alastair Sim's version of "A Christmas Carol" on television this Christmas season? It seems to me that for the last two years it has not been on here in the US.

Anyone?

It's by far my favorite but I didn't see in the TV listings at all this year. It's tradition that I watch an old VHS copy that I have anyway.

Old/VHS = redundant :p

Hey Crazywater!

Nope, didn't see it -- rented from BB online.

Our PBS station showed it quite a few times the past month. One problem may be if you create a Wishlist for A Christmas Carol Alastair Sim or something like that. Every time I saw it listed this year it was listed as Scrooge which is the official name of the move (though I have seen it listed as A Christmas Carol in the past).

I looked for it a few times and mostly found all the alternate versions which are inferior. The only one even close is the 1934 version.

Sims is my second favorite Scrooge. My first favorite is the George C. Scott version. That rough, gravely voice just makes Scrooge real for me. The Scott version used to scare my kids much more than the Sims version though so until the past few years we didn't watch it much.

My third favorite is Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol! I just watched that one myself the other night, and the kids weren't even around! :o

Mine is the 1934 version. The black and white and just the style of it, seems to tell how dirty london was back then

I didn't notice, but I watched the Muppet Christmas Carol. :)

The 1934 and George Scott versions are my favorites also. Getting the character of Scrooge and why he became so embittered is hard for a movie. I finally read the book. It turns out that the Mr. Magoo version explains it well enough. :)

Hey, I just realized I watched no Christmas specials or movies at all this year.

Alastair Sim is my favorite Scrooge as well. I didn't notice whether or not it aired here because I bought it on DVD a few years back so I could watch it whenever I want.
