I have been interested in getting a tivo for a while and just recently really started researching it. I think I want the 80-hour TiVo Series2 because I can get it free with the purchase of a service plan.
Anyway, we just have charter cable.. its not the digital cable with a box.. the cable line comes in the house and goes directly to the tv. So my first question is if this tivo unit is the right one that I need?
Another question is if I hook the tivo up in one place for a couple months and then take it to another house will it still work? In other words does the subscription go with the tivo unit or is it linked to a location?
Thanks.

Yes to both questions. I also have analog cable. Instead of going directly to your tv, just plug the coax cable into your Tivo, then your Tivo into the tv. No worries. Likewise, you can move the box from house to house without a problem.

If you move to another town you'll need to run Setup again, but that's no big deal. It's a very simple procedure that you run when you first install your TiVO, that asks you questions like what is your zip code and which phone number (from a list it presents) can you call for free, so that it knows how to accurately get your local listings to set up its program guide.
