So I went and bought 3 HD TiVos, a wireless network, TiVo Desktop Pay Version, and Roxio MyDVD9 Premier. I'm all ready to burn to some TV to DVD. Wait a minute! About 30% of my TiVo recordings cannot be transfered to the PC because they're labeled "Copy Protected". And when I do transfer a 2hr documentary ("Dogfights" from History Channel) I can't burn it using Roxio MyDVD9 because I get an error "Cannot be edited, cannot add to your DVD". I finally did find a couple of shows to burn ("Pinks" from Speed Channel) but what's the deal? Anyone else having this problem? Looks like I'll have to go back to the old home entertainment center DVD burner. Wish I'd have known about this in advance. Should TivoToGo have been called "TivoToStay".

You can burn any program you can get to your PC. You just need the right app to edit, if you need to do that. Around here, VideoRedo, and its newer cousin, VideoDVDSuite (or something like that) is popular.

I purchased Video Redo about a year ago and transferring Tivo recordings to DVD was still to complicated. Recently I recieved an offer to upgrade to the Video Redo TV Suite and did so. It is WONDERFUL!!!! I can easily remove commercials and record to DVD now. I would recommend it to anyone who wants an easy way to make DVD's from Tivo recordings. I have been able to record any TV program.

Other than local broadcast channels, any cable network can copy protect any or all of their programs, and beyond that, any cable company can copy protect any or all of the programs on any cable channels that don't explicitly prohibit it. If copy protected, TiVo will not allow it to be transferred.

I downloaded the trial version of Video Redo TV Suite. I like the ability to remove commercials but it seems really slow. I tried to burn a 2hr Tivo show to DVD. It spent about 2hrs chugging away and when it finished there was nothing on my DVD. I did find some files it created on my C drive. I guess it just converted the content and didn't burn it. Maybe the trial version won't let me burn DVDs? Anybody else recommend a software? Don't think I'll buy this one.

Don't give up on TVS so quickly. I own it and LOVE it.
Most TiVo shows have a non-DVD compliant frame size so be sure to check the "Accept non-compliant DVD settings at the bottom of the Create DVD window. Rendering will go very quick as it won't have to transcode the file.
I also always use the Author to VIDEO_TS option then burn to DVD manually via the Launch DVD Burner option.
Feel free to ask further questions here or visit the TVS forum HERE (http://www.videoredo.net/msgBoard/forumdisplay.php?f=32)
