No option for owning the DVD?

None. I Netflixed the movie once and didn't see what all the fuss was about.

Seen it many times so I'll watch for a few minutes while surfing, then move on.

Same as Scooter -- I've seen it often enough to last me the rest of my life. Same with It's A Wonderful Life and A Charlie Brown Christmas.

I've already seen it and do not plan on seeing it again. However, it's not the worst Christmas movie ever made. Deck the Halls and Unaccompanied Minors fall into that catagory.

I'm with Gray on this one, except that I'd watch It's a Wonderful Life for 24 straight, probably. :D

I don't think Christmas Story horrible or anything, just not great.

I would have been much more inclined (less hesitant) to vote for an option that simply said "None", but I voted NONE anyway despite this not being the worst Christmas movie ever - just the most WAYYYY overplayed. I avoid it every Christmas now.

I would have chosen None, but it's NOT the worst christmas movie ever.. it's near the top. None, because it's a rerun hacked up/squished credits/overflowing bugs, etc..

You are banned from this thread. :D

Seriously, A Christmas Story is the greatest Christmas movie of all time. I did not vote in the poll because we never sat down and actually watched it, but it was on television throughout the entire day on Christmas.

Still watch those last 2 every year, if I haven't stopped now I guess I never will.

Re the OP, I watched about half an hour last night, for the first time. Boring to me.

If the tv was on, A Christmas Story was playing.

I record it every year and always intend to watch it, but never get around to it. I've never seen the whole thing, although I have seen several parts and know the basic story. This year, I watched the first 15 minutes or so, but I've got so much other stuff to watch that it's unlikely I'll get around to watching the rest.

I'd never heard of it before this year. A co-worker mentioned that it's his favorite Xmas movie so I checked it out. Thought it was pretty awful. Will never watch again.

Love the movie! and - since I've been through the house (in March) - was fun to watch, and say "hey - we stood right there!"

I'd watch A Wonderful Life that many times, too. :o

I've never seen A Christmas Story, and don't really plan to-it's not really anything that ever appealed to me.

Seriously, it's not. Off the top of my head:

It's a Wonderful Life
The Shop Around the Corner
Bad Santa
The Ref (most underrated)
The Nightmare Before Christmas

I'm sure there are others.

Seriously, it is. Its the wonderful kind of funny fluff you thought was great when you were a kid. From your list, I see that except for It's a Wonderful Life (which I consider a strong second to A Christmas Story) you prefer very off the wall Christmas Fare.

Moviefone's Top 25 Christmas Movies of All Time

25. The Polar Express (deserved to be higher)
24. We're No Angels
23. The Muppet Christmas Carol
22. Joyeux Noel
21. Gremlins
20. The Santa Clause
19. Bad Santa (sorry I just don't believe references to anal sex belong in a Christmas movie. Although I loved the film outside of the season)
18. The Dead
17. The Shop Around the Corner
16. Die Hard
15. Love Actually
14. The Bishop's Wife
13. The Nightmare before Christmas
12. Holiday Inn
11. A Christmas Carol (1951) (I prefer the Patrick Stewart version)
10. National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
9. Babe's in Toyland
8. Home Alone
7. Christmas in Connecticut
6. Elf
5. White Christmas
4. Scrooged
3. The Miracle on 34th Street (1947)
2. It's a Wonderful Life
1. A Christmas Story

When you google 'best Christmas movies' you will get list after list that shows either Its a Wonderful Life, or A Christmas Story as #1.

Seriously, excepting your opinion, there's no question its in the top 2.

You're right. I love it. Have watched it many times. It's a classic. I made DVD's of it last year and gave them to family members. This year didn't watch it once in any form!

It is far and away the best Christmas movie ever.
