View Full Version : DVD to MPG, 5.1 audio
I can rip DVDs to a mpg and then transfer it to the Tivo without a problem. Is there a way that the audio will be 5.1? Any insight you can provide would be great.
Thanks

I use DVD Shrink's 're-author' to grab the 'Main Movie' with only the 5.1 audio track and no subtitles. I then just rename the VOB file to MPG and I am able to play it on my S3 or PS3 with no issues and 5.1 audio.
Not sure if it matters but both my TiVo S3 and the PS3 are hooked up via HDMI to my receiver.

According to my A/V receiver, I get a Dolby 'Pro-Logic II' signal out of my ST S2.
Is that a 5.1 signal OR is it just L/R stereo with a rear channel that my receiver enhances to 5.1?
Even if it's the latter, it still sounds pretty good. :)
