Hey..

I have a Humax DRT400 that I bought months ago and never activated. At the time I checked the subscription rates and it was still able to get lifetime for $299. i went to activate it today for a x-mas gift and see that the price of the lifetime has gone up to $399!!

1) When did this increase happen?

2) Is it a permanent increase or just part of the holiday pricing? (Just hoping)

Thanks.....

Just for the holidays and then it will disappear. You will have no option for lifetime after that, unless they bring it back again.

Price went up on November 8th (with no advance notice), and under certain conditions all TiVos can get Lifetime service, Lifetime will be available on a never activated Humax DVD TiVos indefinitely as the TiVo policy is now. After Feb. 2nd I don't know if TiVo will lower the price of Lifetime back to $299 for the Humax TiVos, but Lifetime Service will end for the rest of the TiVos, Unless TiVo brings it back in some form or another.

There's no reason to believe that TiVo will lower the price for Humax boxes after the current offer ends. They raised the price for a reason and I can't imagine that their Humax deal would specify $299 for the price of lifetime, so you really have to expect price increases.

I wonder if I can make a case because the outside of the box says $299......

I wonder whether it also says somewhere on the box that terms of service are subject to change. If nothing else, I'm sure it's in the manual as that's pretty standard language these days.

I'll check tonight, but if it were subject to change then why have they been offering lifetime at all past 4/2006?

I assume that this was part of the original Humax-TIVO deal, which was not subject to change.

Maybe this is a glitch with the online ordering system with the new lifetime option for existing customers? Did you call Tivo and ask them or are you just going what was offered on the site when trying to do the online activation?
