I have replaced my HR 10-250 with the HR20, and the card for the HR 10-250 was deactivated. The HR 10-250 is no longer hooked up to the satellie dish. Is there a way where I can still access the programming in its hard drive? Some of the recordings I had not watched yet.
My understanding was that you could even use the ATSC tuner without DirecTV authorization, so I thought you could access the stored programming as well. However, I just hooked up the HR 10-250 to a television vua composite cables in one of my bedrooms, and even though the screen says "Welcome"...and then "Just a few more minutes", all I subsequently receive is a blank black screen.
Any ideas? Thanks!

In order to use the OTA receiver in the HR10 it has to be active. IMO, there's no reason to retire the HR10 just yet. Reactivate it and use it along side the HR20.

I am just seeking to watch material I have recorded but not yet watched. Is this possible? If so, does anyone know how to view its recorded contents? Thanks.

Hook it up to a TV and play the recordings. It doesn't need to be connected or activated to watch recordings. Press the DirecTV button to skip to the menus when you get the "searching for satellite" message.
You can't extract the shows to a PC unless you had hacked the box.

Thanks for reply; however, I don't receive a "searching for satellite message". I just receive "welcome" and then "just a few moments" and then the screen goes blank. When I press the DirecTV button I hear the bing sound but can not see any menu on the screen. The HR 10-250 is no longer hooked up to a satellite dish. Any advice? Thanks.

Problem solved. I had to change the resolution to 480i. Thanks.
